Fifty-Eight

Bruce's POV

Tony is gone. (Y/N) is gone. Strange and the Time Stone are gone. That weird Spider-Kid is gone. This was not going well. I look around at the destruction and then turn to Wong. He's opened a portal back to the Sanctum. "Where are you going?" I ask him.

"The Time Stone's been taken. The Sanctum remains unguarded. What will you do?" He looks at me, waiting for an answer. "Do you think you can open a portal for me?" I ask unsure. He nods and asks me where. "The Tower. I'll figure out where to go from there." He nods and a portal appears next to me. "Thank you." We both nod at each other as I step through. I find myself in the tower, Pepper wide eyed to see me in front of her, the little girl that called (Y/N) mommy by her side.

"Pepper..." I look at her solemnly. She shakes her head. "I know..." After a brief silence she speaks up again. "What now?" She looks at me, expecting something. "I need to talk to the team. Where are they? Shouldn't at least someone be here?"

Pepper sighs. "The team isn't based in the tower anymore. We have a place upstate. I'll call Happy. We can head over there now. I gotta see if I can get a hold of Rodgers... He has to let Barnes know."

I look at her confused, then look at the little girl and it clicks. Oh shit. Oh he is not going to be happy. I nod as Pepper picks up the little girl. "Come on hunny. We're going to take a ride to go see all your Aunts and Uncles at the compound hun." The little girl smiles, and I can't help but see (Y/N)'s smile. I feel a pang of guilt. If the Hulk would have shown up, maybe all of this could have been avoided. I follow Pepper into the elevator as we make our way to the Avenger's new home.

Steve's POV

"Everyone stays radio silent. Scope out the area. Get our intel. Meet back at the jet. Only use coms in case of emergency." I speak out to the team. It's a standard intel run, but it's a big one. We needed pretty much all hands-on deck for this one. Only Rhodey stayed behind in the campus in case something came up. But we shouldn't be gone too long anyways.

Everyone nods and we all spread out in teams of two, trying to blend in with the surroundings. Nat and I play the role of cute couple rather well as we sneakily scope out the area. "So... I've been thinking..." I speak up. Nat laughs, "oh that's never a good sign." I nudge her playfully. "You wound me darling." Nat smirks up at me and kisses me lightly. "Three on our two 'o'clock." She whispers softly into my ear, passing it off like she was whispering naughty talk to her partner. I nod, in a barely noticeable way, and grab her hand and spin her around and start laughing as we walk in that direction. To anyone we would just be another cute couple strolling around the streets of Scotland.

We continue our play banter as we follow our marks from a distance as to not arouse suspicion. As were finally getting close enough to maybe get some good intel we hear Wanda call out through the comms. "We have a situation. We need backup! Quick!"

The sound of her voice sounds panicked and scared. Nat and I hightail out of an earshot from our marks before speaking through the comms. "What's going on Wanda?" Nat says quick and to the point.

"We're being attacked. Not our marks. Aliens. There after Vis. VIS NO!" I tense at what I hear, knowing everyone else has heard it too, I finally speak up. "Wanda. Location. Team converge on Wanda and Vision. Be prepared to fight." Everyone sounds off and finally Wanda is able to call out her location.

Nat and I run as fast as we can to the location and when we get there were stunned to see Vision injured on the floor, Wanda standing in front of him in a protective pose. Pietro by her side also protecting Vision but looking cautiously at his sister as well.
