"Why America?! I thought maybe up north or somethin'!" Mina exclaimed.
"When I said that you're in danger, I meant all over the country. It's not safe here at all," Chikao explained, pulling out a burner phone and throwing it to someone to catch. "You will leave soon, we just have a few more things to bring for you all, so stay here for now. Call if you need anything," she added, walking towards the trailer doors.
"Wait—" someone had tried to say before the trailer doors slammed closed. Chikao sighed in relief, quickly walking away from the twin doors, Genkei hot on her heels.
"Wait up!" Giichi shouted, trying to catch up towards his boss.
Chikao ignored him, her mind swimming with thoughts. She tried to ignore Genkei's reproachful glare, already anticipating the scolding to come. Alas, she could not.
"Spit it out Genkei before you burn a hole in me."
"It seems you failed to mention the— shall I say questionable— ties your father has in which he gained information."
"I thought it would be best. If they found out that he has ties to the criminal underworld, they would be adamant about staying here, therefore getting caught and ruining this whole operation. I don't think they would understand grey areas."
"While I agree, it would behoove you to brief them of this before they depart."
"Stop using these big words guys! You're making my head hurt," Giichi complained.
Chikao rolled her eyes fondly. "Genkei was telling me I should have told the others about my dad being half of a bad guy."
"Oh, yeah! I think you should have too. Might be better for them to have the whole picture. Anyways, what's the plan?" Giichi asked.
"First, we'll get them food and new clothes, and some money. Hopefully, the cargo ship that's supposed to take them to America comes on time tomorrow. Then they'll hopefully find our contact in America that will take care of things from there,"
"That's a lot."
"It's only a few things. We'll be fine-"
She was interrupted by a ping.
Giichi smiled sheepishly and pulled out his cell. He looked at the lit-up screen, and his eyes widened in shock.
"Chii-chii, you ok? What's wrong?"
Genkei pulled out his phone, checking his. He immediately grimaced.
"We have a problem. Look," Genkei said, displaying his phone screen. It was a news station, reporting on the new information about the escaped inmates.
Breaking news! Good heroes turned bad. Days later after their arrest, new evidence suggests Former number one hero Deku, killed a poor store clerk. 36- year old Kai Shinji was found 3 days after Deku's arrest. He had been found near the same warehouse that the former heroes were found and arrested. Unfortunately, the heroes have escaped before they could be tried. The police department asks the public to please aid them in their search, but to approach with caution. On to better news, Mcdonald's has finally published their..."
Chikao's heart dropped to her stomach, and could only hear the ringing in her ears. "Fucking hell," she cursed.
Genkei winced. "Language."
"Sorry, but you have to go, now."
The boys nodded, sprinting towards their respective vehicles. Genkei was going to a currency exchange, in hopes of getting enough money for them to at least buy food and transport. Giichi was going to check the scheduled departure of the cargo ship, making sure they left early. If not, he was going to move them to another that was leaving that same night, no matter what.
