Sweven (n): a vision seen in sleep; a dream.
You were in a small meadow, surrounded by trees. The world was ambient and calm, the chirping of the birds and your hair swaying in the breeze was the only thing you could hear. You looked up, the sun a bright yellow and the sky a brilliant blue.
You picked up a small flower, the petals a lovely violet that led to a white center. The petals were soft, like pillows, and you fiddled with the petals. You observed the other flowers, dancing daisies, marvelous marigolds, red roses. You sat on the soft grass, a few blades grazing your arms. You started to pick more, forming a pretty bouquet.
You sighed in happiness. You were able to appreciate nature and all its good and pure things. It made you forget about the outside world. You didn't have to worry about your hero ranking. You didn't have to worry about criminals or falsely accused ones. You could relax, cause this was your domain. This was something you could get used to.
You glanced towards the trees, their fluffy green leaves dancing, and swaying. The trees had small lemons and other fruits around. You stood up from the grass, patting down your clothes for any stray grass or dirt. You strode towards the trees, feeling their leaves. You rubbed your thumb back and forth on a dark green one when you heard a voice.
You turned, looking to see if anyone else was with you. When you saw there wasn't, you shrugged, turning your attention back to the leaf. But soon, you heard the voice again.
"Hey! Over here!"
That's when you saw the craziest thing in your life. The lemon that you were next to had a mouth and spoke. You scrubbed your eyes, hoping you saw this correctly.
"Are you talking to me?"
"Yeah!"
"Huh?" you were incredibly confused. Fruits were not supposed to talk.
"Hey, lay off sweetcheeks over there. She's a little confused," another, much deeper voice said.
You whipped your head to the side, not finding the peculiar voice.
"Up here, sweets."
You looked up, surprised to see a light red, surprisingly large cardinal circling above you. It landed in front of you, tilting its head.
"Now aren't you a sight for sore eyes."
Was this bird... flirting with you? What the hell was going here?
"The fuck?"
"Aww, don't be that way! You're pretty cute when you're clueless though." You weren't sure how, but the cardinal winked. You cringed.
Whatever was happening wasn't making any sense. Then, the sky seemed to darken, as if the sun had lost its blaze. You looked up and what you saw made your eyes pop out. The sun was missing a piece of itself, as if someone took a big bite out of it. Crows and birds squawked, fleeing. You heard other fruits screaming, and could faintly hear underground vegetables yelling for everyone to take cover.
"Damn, it's back again," the cardinal muttered.
"What?! What are we talking about?"
"I'm sorry sweetheart, we'll have to cut this short. I wish we could've talked more. I'll miss seeing your cute face."
"What. the actual. fuck."
...
You awoke with a start, shooting up from your bed. You breathed deeply, your brows furrowing at the perplexing dreams. None of it made sense.
