TW: Depictions of depression, post medical. Bakugo is kinda mean in this part. Potentially OOC. Please read at your discretion, as this can be triggering to some. Please protect yourself.

Midoriya paces outside your bedroom door, Bakugo by his side. Anyone can feel the anxiety from Midoriya in waves. In his head, he felt like your recovery was in his hands. It was a mission he could not fail. He'd been tasked with making sure you would be ok, without Maya. Had he failed? He wasn't sure. But he knew that today would make or break you.

"Just fucking knock already," Bakugo growled. Though not as obvious, he was worried as well. He knew what it was like, these feelings. Failure, regret, unworthiness. It was weighing on your shoulders. He remembered almost falling into the same hole as you. If not for his friends (a word he doesn't like to use), he would've been in the same situation as you.

Midoriya finally mustered up the courage to knock, knuckles cracking against the door. The door creaked open, the interior dark. The curtains were drawn, the TV was off, and the lamps provided no light. It was like someone died there. The floor was messy, clothes littering the floor, empty food cartons and water bottles on almost every surface. It was horrible. In the middle of it all, there you lay, eyes open, yet clouded over. Bakugo looked ready to speak, but one look at you made his mouth snap shut.

It seemed you'd gotten worse than they'd thought.

"Umm, (Y/N)?" Midoriya called out nervously. You shifted, turning away from his voice. He shared a worried look with Bakugo, before moving further into the room. Midoriya had never been inside before, and Bakugo could hardly remember the last time he'd come. It was hectic the last time, and he was trying to avoid upsetting Kya.

Midoriya cleared his throat. "We're worried about you."

You didn't say a word, shifting again.

Midoriya glances at Bakugo, nudging him. Bakugo bats his hand away, glaring.

What do you want me to do?! His eyes say.

Midoriya tilts his head insistently toward you. Say something! Anything!

Bakugo doesn't speak, only crossing his arms. Midoriya huffs in frustration, speaking again.

"We know this is hard for you. Fighting Nomu, seeing the destruction it caused, would be hard on anyone by themselves. But you don't have to recover alone. We all know what you're feeling. We're here for you. No matter what. Whatever you need."

His voice is strong and sure, exactly what they think you need right now. He thinks this may help, knowing that someone was there to support you in your time of need.

You don't respond.

Midoriya falters. Yet he continues, though less sure of himself. "We can help. But don't let what happened knock you down. You are so strong. You did better than anyone who has ever had this happen in the past."

He bounced off encouraging words, hoping to break through to you. He moves closer to you, hoping you feel his presence, his words.

But all you do is blink at them, as if the words never even pierced the walls of your psyche.

All you do is stare at Midoriya's green bright green eyes, your own lackluster.

It's then that Midoriya sees that nothing he said could've helped.

Despair falls on him, and he clenches his fist out of fear. He attempts to reach out, to at least touch you so you can feel what he's saying. But he doesn't. Instead, he withdraws into himself, feeling the weight of his failure on his shoulders. Midoriya leaves without another word.
