Avoidance

Deipnosophist (n): someone skilled in small talk.

Days in the(L/N) household were... weird, to say the least.

Everyone kept tiptoeing around (Y/N), who seemed too busy to be bothered with what they were doing. But it also felt like she was avoiding them. She didn't talk with them, even though they all lived under the same roof. They didn't know where she went to in the daytime. Not that they were obligated to know, but they wanted to get to know her better and become more than just half strangers or housemates.

They didn't even know her quirk, and Kaminari refused to tell them. Which was surprising because Kaminari couldn't keep a secret to save his life. He felt that since it was personal info, (Y/N) should be the one to tell them.

The only ones who seemed unbothered were Bakugo, Todoroki, and Shinsou.

Your kids, however, were as social as ever, Oliver being a little on the shy and quiet side. They'd talk, ask questions, and overall keep the adults occupied. You'd normally gaze at them from afar, watching their interactions.

You knew what you were doing, but you just weren't ready. You needed time to adjust to new people and potential friends. It was hard enough to think about the repercussions of helping these heroes, especially with your family being at risk. But you knew that you couldn't avoid them forever. They knew that too.

It was nighttime, the stars little spotlights in the sky, and nighttime animals creating a soft ambiance of the neighborhood. It was a new moon, so the sky was dark, except for the separated street lights. It was peaceful. Denki Kaminari laid in his blow-up mattress, hands behind his head, staring at the ceiling. His mind was racing, which didn't help his sleep at all. But he wasn't the only one.

"Are you guys asleep?" Kirishima asked, voice quiet.

"Nah," Sero answered.

"No," Kaminari said. The only one who didn't answer was Bakugo, his snores echoing in the room.

"Can't sleep?" Kirishima asked again.

"Yeah, I'm worried about (Y/N)," Kaminari responded. "She's been avoiding me and I don't know why."

"Maybe she just needs some more time? We did just kind of dumped everything on her. I'd be reluctant too," Kirishima offered.

Kaminari shook his head and sat up. "I know, but I don't think it's that," he huffed, still confused as to what he should do.

"Got to fucking sleep, dumbasses! Other people need their damn rest! Why the fuck are you shits still awake? Talk shit later," Bakugo grumbled hoarsely.

Silence ensued after Bakugo's comment, the others hoping he fell asleep again.

"Do you think she's still awake?"

"Shut the fuck up!!"

Meanwhile...

Izuku Midoriya was also still awake, on his side staring out the window. He was thinking the same as Kaminari, wondering why you were ignoring them. He didn't know what to say, how to approach it, or you. You had a blank stare or a small scowl most of the time.

He wasn't sure what to do about it. He asked Iida, who didn't say much, asked Shinsou, who was half asleep so he didn't answer. He even asked Todoroki, who was his best bet. But all he said was make his actions speak louder than words, just like last time.

He sat up in the bed, letting out another sign.

"What is it Midoriya?" Todoroki, surprisingly awake, asked.
