It was early morning, light streaming in through the blinds. The house was as quiet as a mouse, with no sounds of life.
You lounged at the dining table, eating a bowl of (favorite cereal). A tall cup of (juice of choice) sat next to it, along with a bagel. You were scrolling through an "online book". You laughed at the characters' mistakes and released frustrated groans at the miscommunication. You enjoyed this time to yourself in the early morning.
Until you heard arguing.
You morphed your expression to an unbothered one, keeping your gaze on your cereal.
Maybe if I ignore it, it'll go away, you thought.
It did not go away. Instead, it moved closer to you.
It was Mina and Kirishima. Mina glared at Kirishima, scolding him, while Kirishima was on the defensive.
You still kept your eyes on your cereal, eating quicker.
Really? Right in front of my cereal.
"That is disgusting!" Mina shouted, gesturing wildly.
"That's your opinion! I had to do what I had to do!"
"Well, it shouldn't involve...that!" she spat. "I don't even want to talk to you right now."
"Fine!"
"Fine!"
They sat, crossing their arms and turning their heads away from each other.
The silence was tense, but you ate, unbothered. Mina was turning hot pink from anger, while Kirishima still kept his eyes on the living room.
They wanted you to talk, to ask what was wrong. You knew that, but you chose not to.
I have nothing to do with it.
Mina exhaled noisily, anger still on her pink cheeks. When you paid no mind to any of them, Mina finally had enough.
"Fine! Since you won't say anything, I will!" she shouted, slamming her hands on the table. The table jumped, and cereal and juice spilled. You sighed at your spilled breakfast, leaving the table to grab a sponge.
"Make friends, he said. It'll be good for you, he said," you muttered under your breath.
After cleaning, you sat at the table, arms crossed and eyes stern.
"Speak," you commanded.
"Kirishima hasn't washed his hair since we got here!" she shouted again, breathing heavily. Your eyes comically widened, turning slowly towards Kirishima. Your mouth was agape in disbelief.
"Is this true?" you questioned.
Kirishima kept his gaze away from you.
"Kirishima..." you said, warning in your tone.
He was stubborn as a rock, ignoring you. You sighed, and he thought you were going to let it go. Until your hand coursed through his hair. Or at least tried to.
You visibly cringed at the crunch you heard, Kirishima falling out of his chair in panic.
He was in for it now. He contemplated hiding under the table, but he knew it would be no good.
"Get. Your. Ass. Up," you muttered through clenched teeth.
He slowly rose, head bowed in shame. He could see Mina cross her arms in triumph, and he glared at her for outing him.
"Don't glare at me. This is for your good," she said smugly.
You glared at your hand, staring at the flakes and crusts of gel on your palm. You were almost offended by it.
