"Good morning class!"
"Good morning Ms. Turner!" the class chimed.
Ms.Turner smiled. "Today, we have a new student," she gestured to the corner.
A young girl with short black hair, porcelain skin, big, mono-lidded eyes, and a button nose, stood shyly next to the teacher.
"Introduce yourself!" The teacher chirped.
The little girl raised her head. "I'm Aria Kim. I'm five." She didn't say anything else, lowering her head.
Ms. Turner smiled knowingly. "Well Aria, you can have a seat next to Kya. Kya, please raise your hand."
Kya's hand shot up, waving to make sure Aria saw her. Aria shuffled to the seat.
"Hi! I'm Kya!" Kya grinned.
"Hi," Aria mumbled.
"Do you wanna be my friend?"
Aria's eyes widened before she nodded. Was it that easy?
"Yay! We're going to be best friends!" Kya giggled, hugging Aria. Aria froze, before awkwardly patting Kya's back.
"I thought I was your best friend!" A student chimed in.
"Oops, you're my second best friend."
Aria smiled nervously. Today was going to be eventful.
...
"We've noticed a string of robberies occurring in the DFW area. There's been an increase in shootings in the farther neighborhoods," your secretary stated.
You rubbed your forehead. You were having your monthly conference call to report any suspicious activity. Sidekicks that worked for you were scattered all across the country, working to keep it safe.
"We've been having an increase here in Arlington Heights too," another sidekick mentioned.
Other sidekicks clamored about their own cities and states, talking about the petty and major crime areas.
"Alright," you started, hushing the other sidekicks on the call. "We'll comprise a list of highs and lows. We'll hit the high section hard, with more patrols and more sidekicks, the lows we'll hit at a later time. I'll organize the assignments. I'll check in with other heroes to see if they can assist."
They nodded.
"It's Wednesday now, so I'll get the assignments tomorrow. Let me know if we have any other problems."
The heroes chorused their replies, logging off.
You sighed, scrubbing your eyes.
"Are you ok, Miss?" Taylor, your secretary, asked.
"Yeah, just tired."
"Do you think you'll be doing another tour?"
"I might have to 'cause this is getting ridiculous."
"How long?"
"Maybe two weeks max. Can't leave the kids for too long."
"Or you could ask Ghost-runner for help."
"We'll see. I want her to increase her transport times at least by 5. And that'll take a while."
Ghostrunner was one of your rookie sidekicks. Her quirk is called Ghost. She's able to teleport to different places using her five senses and has the ability to be intangible. She could also teleport other people as long as she has physical contact with them.
