"Oof! Time to pay your debt, Molly!" The white-suited man said gleefully.

"B-But I don't have anything!"

"That's no big deal. We don't bet chips around here anyways."

A horizontal bar that was fixed above her wrist began to shake. Dr. Collingwood gulped as the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. Her trapped hand curled into a fist.

"No, no, no, no- AHHHHHHH!"

The bar fell and sliced through her wrist, chopping her hand off. She tried to pull her arm out of the mini-guillotine, but it was stuck. Screws dug into her flesh. Thomas winced in sympathy.

After a long while, she managed to push through the agony and forced her face into a neutral mask. The TV flickered on again. The man in the white suit cackled.

"Having fun yet?"

"Oh, shut up," she snarled at him.

"Now, now, no need to act like that." The man's rictus grin only seemed to get wider. Pain was blocked out by anger. It seemed like this man's very existence was meant to infuriate her. "Considering your personality, I thought you'd be a good sport about it."

The sound of metal sliding on metal drew her attention to her arm. The blade was back above her wrist again. Shards of bone were starting to painfully protrude from bloodied flesh, forming her wrist, then her hand, then her fingers. Skin and muscle extended over bone. Her breath came in sobbing gasps. Her hand growing back was every bit as painful as it getting cut off, just more drawn out. The man in the TV laughed.

"Alright... you-you've had your fun... please... just... please... let me go..." she begged.

"Of course not! The game's only just begun!" The man laughed again as the TV flickered to static.

Thomas looked back to her as the next round began. "I'm sorry about this," he said quietly.
