Naga floated, coiled into a ball, drifting within the nothingness of the vase, nursing his anger.
How... How did she get away from me? How did she escape?
His lip curled as he remembered being sealed away within this vase. The ones who had sealed him had made it so that his powers could only be used on a human once. Not that it had changed much of anything. Once he bit a human, their fate was sealed. Or so he had thought.
He remembered how she resisted him with thoughts of the ones she cared for, the seemingly endless strength those thoughts seemed to give her. Strength enough to stop his strike, tear off his jaw, and rip out his eye. Strength enough to resist his influence.
Those thoughts, that strength, that courage, that mental fortitude forced him out and made him shrink.
It drove him mad. How could a mere mortal defeat a being of near endless power, second to only the Scarlet King, by sheer force of will? His powers, even while weakened, brought even the most steel-hearted of men to their knees.
Such strength he had never even thought possible.
His thin, forked tongue flicked over his scaly lips as he thought of her red-haired love.
She has escaped, and he shall pay the price. An eye for an eye, and a soul for a soul.
