Chapter 28

We ended up finding a small town nearbye. As I looked around, I began to notice that the presence of women were, pretty much non-existant. All I saw were males and this gave me an uneasy feeling. They were watching Cheza and I like hawks. Catcalling and whistling like they would to common dogs. I glare at one who clicked his tongue and made a kissing sound. A low growl catches my attention, I look towards Tsume, and sigh. We haven't spoken since I snapped at him...it's been 3 days now... I look forward and continue to walk. "Man, what a seedy looking town." Hige says. "It's my kind of place." Tsume says sarcastically. "I bet it is." Kiba says with a smirk. "Smell the danger in the air, my blood's on fire." Tsume says smirking as well. Toboe pushes up his sleeve toughly and places his hand on his non-existant biscep. "Me too! Me too!" he says. I snort, close my eyes, and shake my head. Hige puts Toboe in a choke hold. "Pretty big talk for someone who's scared all the time!" Hige teases. "Put that bad-boy away before you hurt yourself Toboe." I say and laugh. "But that's not the only reason you're fired up, is it runt? For one thing tonight's--" Kiba cuts Hige off. "Yeah, it's a full moon." Kiba says. Toboe manages to wiggle out of Hige's arms and leans against a building's wall. "I know it's like that for us, because we get our strength from the full moon. But what about Cheza? She looks like she's glowing too." Toboe says. We all look at her. "Yeah." Kiba says sort of breathlessly. "Once a year, on the night of the full moon, flowers will hear the moon's call, to return to Paradise. That's a legend I heard once." he finishes. "So, you mean tonight she'll..." Tsume trails off. "I'm not sure if it will be tonight, we'll just have to wait, and see." Kiba says. "What?" Toboe asks. "What's going to happen to her?" he asks. "You're not saying that Cheza's gonna bloom or something are ya?" Hige asks. Cheza stops and looks toward us. "This one is excited too!" she says with a closed eye smile. The guys just stare at her in wonder. I laugh softly, walk up to her, and lock my arm with hers. "I bet you are." I say. We both laugh and continue walking. We come to the edge of the town, where the ruins of a dome-like building surrounded us. Night has fallen and the full moon shines bright, seeking out Cheza, who stood beneath it in a fountain of water. She closes her eyes and looks up towards the moon. I leaned against a part of the dome, eyes closed, and arms crossed over my chest. My entire body tingled with an unknown feeling and my heart was racing. "So this is it..." Tsume breaths. I lean my head to the side to look at him before looking at Cheza. "Yeah, right about now I feel like I can do almost anything!" Hige says with a huge smile. Toboe crosses his arms in the back of his head with a bright smile. "I mean we've all seen a full moon before, but because Cheza's with us, it seems different. Doesn't it?" he asks. A movement from Tsume catches my attention. A happy growl escapes his throat while he raises his arms above his head. "Oh man, I just want to howl my head off!" he says ecstatic. He looks so...happy. A smile crosses my lips and I close my eyes with an approving sigh. "Something's about to happen." Kiba says making me lok towards Cheza again. She twirled in the fountain her hands riding the wind as she did this, her smile was bright, and her happiness made an even brighter smile spread over my lips. Seeing everyone so relaxed and happy...I can't help but be happy too. We've been through alot together, no matter how tough things get, we'll always be there for one another...I just know it. For a moment, I'm actually excited to see what's waiting for us at the end of this journey. Though...I can't shake the feeling that, something bad is also waiting for us... I push that thought away and focus on here and now. Bringing my wolf out, along with the others, we run around Cheza, happily barking the whole time. When we can no longer resist the urge to howl, we all stop, and bring song to our happiness. As Cheza steps out, we all cicle around her, and look towards the full moon to bask in it's presence. As we looked around, the scent, and vision of Lunar Flowers make a path. Our eyes widen. Kiba gasps in awe. "It's the path to Paradise..." Hige breaths. "Is that...realy what it is?" Tsume asks in shock. "Amazing! It's amazing!" Toboe says with a wide open mouth smile. "I've...never seen something...so...beautiful!" I say unable to look away from the sight. We all run, following the path, anxious to get to Paradise. But, we should've known it wasn't that easy. The High-pitched sound of a Noble ship pierces our ears. All of us stop as wolves, growling, and surrounding Cheza protectively. The path of flowers was gone. The ship was getting closer and closer to us until it lands before us with a cloud of smoke. When the smoke dissipates, the figure of a man in Black, is revealed. He had an eye-patch and long Bluish-Black hair. His revealed eye is a Steel Blue. I growl menacingly. "The wolves, it's been a long time." the man says. "That stench, he's a Noble?!" Tsume asks glaring at the man. "What are you doing here?!" Kiba asks with a loud growl. The man walks down from his ship. "Was your dream pleasant? The one where you were going to Paradise?" the man asks mocking us. "What?!" Kiba asks annoyed. "The time has not yet come for that." the man says looking to Cheza. I take a step forward, blocking his view of her, and growl. He looks to me and narrows his eye. "Return to me Cheza." the man says keeping eye contact with me, to show he wasn't afraid. I growl loudly at this while Cheza takes a step back with a gasp and terror in her eyes. "Get out of our way!" Kiba yells before turning wolf and charging at the Noble. "It is futile." the Noble says before Kiba bangs into some kind of mechanism, which sends him flying back. A Red laser-like weapon is shot from the Noble's ship at Kiba, but he dodges it. The laser hits the ground and makes a mini explosion. Then another shoots at Toboe, making him yelp, and sending him shooting back. He hits the ground with a loud thud and I notice the many open wounds covering his body. Hige gasps and looks towards Toboe. My eyes widen. 'TOBOE!' I yell. "TOBOE!" Hige yells and runs towards him. I take a step towards him, but stop when Toboe looks at me. 'No Yuna...stay with Cheza...I'll be okay.' Toboe says to me before falling unconscious. When Hige reaches Toboe, a laser is shot at him, sending him flying as well. 'HIGE!' I yell. Again I try to go to them, but Hige looks at me. 'Don't worry about us...stay with Cheza...' he says to me. I whine and step back to Cheza. Cheza was beyond scared, tears fell down her face like rivers, and she screams. I flinch at the high-pitch sound of her scream, but block it out. "Ah, the blood of the wolves. Magnificent." the Noble taunts. Turning my head to the Noble, I glare, and snarl. Damn him! Tsume and Kiba charge at the Noble. Another laser shoots out. The split down the middle so the laser misses, at least for a second, then the laser splits. I see the laser going towards Tsume. 'TSUME! LOOK OUT!' I yell but I'm too late. Tsume is thrown too, falling to the ground with a thud. Tears fill my eyes and I whine. Cheza was shaking with tears still streaming down her face. Seeing Tsume, Hige, and Toboe laying on the ground bleeding, anger boils within me. I glare menacingly at the Noble, wanting nothing more than to rip his throat out. Kiba managed to dodge the laser and ran towards the ship once again. But is thrown back with another laser, sending him flying through the air, and landing a few feet away from myself and Cheza. 'KIBA!' I yell. My body shook with a mixture of anger and fear. I didn't know how long I could stop myself from attacking the bastard, my control was holding on by a very thin thread. Cheza's loud sobs find my ears, I turn towards her, and try to comfort her as much as I could. She dropped to her knees and hugged my neck tightly while she sobbed. "And then there was one." The Noble says looking at me. I growl angrilly and glare at him. "Look around you she-wolf, what makes you think that you stand a chance?" the Noble asks with an evil smirk. I am about ready to snap, when I hear a strangled voice from across the way. 'Don't...listen to him...Yuna.' Kiba says weakly. An angry growl finds my ears. He was slowly rising from the ground. 'Kiba...' I say. "Kiba..." Cheza says raising her head from my fur. Kiba stands and faces the Noble. Another laser sends Kiba flying once again. I snarl with anger. The Noble smirks. "I don't have time for this, how about you join the others." The Noble says before a laser shoots towards me. I need to stop it before it hurts Cheza! With that thought, I growl, and charge at the laser, meeting it half way. The pain was excruciating and I am sent flying back. I slam to the ground on all fours, just a few feet away from Cheza. My legs threatened to buckle under me, but I manage to stand still. Cheza was unharmed but crying even more, covering her face, and falling to her knees. I fight through the pain, blocking the Noble's view of her once again. 'Calm down Cheza. I'm here, I'm alright. Breath Cheza, deep breaths. You're going to be fine.' I speak to her calmly. She snaps her head up at me. "Give up she-wolf. You cannot win this." the Noble says. I narrow my eyes at him. Another laser shoots out, sending me flying once again. This time, I fall to the ground with another wave of excruciating pain. I growl and start to slowly rise. But I fall back down. Again I fight through the pain and rise. I look towards Cheza, to see Kiba rising once again. He was snarling with rage and glaring at the Noble. He slowly walks toward the Noble. I see a laser forming once again before it comes into contact with Kiba once again. He is sent flying. I snarl angrilly. The Noble hears this and looks towards me along with Cheza. "Yuna...Yuna lay back down! Please! This once can't take this anymore!" Cheza yells. I ignore this. "You should listen to her she-wolf." the Noble says to me. I snarl at him. A laser shoots at me and I dodge it, landing a few feet away from Cheza. "You don't listen, do you? Very well." the Noble says before a laser hits into me once again. I go smashing to the ground a couple times before rolling and hitting against Tsume's unconscious body. I struggle to raise myself up this time, my strength was nearly drained. But I still manage to rise and walk a couple steps before falling to the ground. "Yuna!" Cheza says and runs over to me. I try to raise myself again but she stops me. "No, Yuna this one is begging you. Stay down...please Yuna." she says sobbing. I whine and raise my head to gently rub my fur on her cheek. 'I'm sorry Cheza...but I can't just lay here and let him take you. I'd never forgive myself...' I say before raising once more. After this, I knew I would have no more strength left, but I still pushed myself. She pushes me back to the ground. "That is enough." she says to me before raising herself. 'Cheza...' I say and trail off. She looks at the Noble, with tears still in her eyes. 'Cheza...what are you...' I ask. She doesn't answer, just walks towards the others. She stops long enough to pet them a few times before walking towards the Noble. Realization as to what she was doing, finds me. No...she can't... 'Cheza?! No! Don't do it!' I fight with all my might, trying to raise myself, but my body just couldn't take it anymore, and I collapse. Before I fall unconscious, I see her placing her hand in the Noble's. No...
