My Paradise (Wolf's Rain Fan-Fic)

Chapter 9

Three days after our journey started, a blizzard  had us finding shelter inside a cave until it passed by. Before then, we hadn't stopped running, not even to feed. We wanted to get as much distance between us and that crappy city. "I'm still hungry.." Hige whines. "I'm tired and hungry.." Toboe says. "I'm use to it, in the arena, you're lucky if they give you a scrap of meat, and that's only if you win." I say. "If you're so hungry, eat the Runt. Then we'll eat you Porky." Tsume says to Hige. "What about Kiba?! Why don't you eat him instead?" Toboe asks shocked. "Because he's full of S--" I cut him off. "No one is eating anybody." I say glaring at Tsume, he shrugs unfased. "Before I came to the city, I went for months without eating." Kiba says staring out at the blizzard. "What?! How the hell are you alive then?" Hige asks. "I simply basked in the moonlight, it gave me the energy to move forward." Kiba says. "Yeah well you can go ahead and do that, me? I prefer to not slowly starve to death." Hige says. "Why don't you all shut up and rest. Who knows when we'll get another chance." I say, roll my eyes, lower my Human-form, and lay down. Toboe does the same and lays next to me. Kiba and Hige join us, but Tsume has to be stubborn, so he lays on the other side of the cave. If he wants to freeze to death, that's his problem. My eyelids droop and soon I'm out. I wake up a few hours later and look out at the blizzard. It still wasn't letting up. My eyes drift to Tsume, he hadn't moved from that spot, and he was now shaking from the cold because of that. I shake my head, roll my eyes, and quietly get up without disturbing anyone. Toboe will be fine, he has Kiba and Hige to keep him warm. I silently jump over them and cautiously move closer to Tsume. When I was a couple feet away, I sniff the air, to see if he was awake or not. He wasn't, so I slowly walk the rest of the way over to him. His eyes open and his head raises just as I reach him. We say nothing, just look at one another. I whine to break the silence. He does nothing, just keeps staring at me. 'Okay so maybe I don't want you to freeze to death, if you got a problem with that, bite me.' I say to him. 'Don't tempt me.' He says, just as he lowers his head back down onto his paws. I lower myself next to him and lay my head over the back of his neck. Surprisingly, he stiffens up but doesn't make any attempt to move. But after a while, he relaxes, and falls back asleep. I follow shortly after. Toboe wakes us up. "Yuna, Tsume! Hige's found food! Come on! Before he eats it all!" he says excited. We get up and follow him. He stops to reveal a corpse of a Dear. "We're lucky, it must've froze to death in the storm. Dig in!" Hige says. I shrug, grab a couple peices, and back out of the group. I throw one of the peices to Tsume. "Eat up." I say and bite into my share once I see him eat. "I hope there will be deer in Paradise! They're yummy." Toboe says. "There'll be plenty of game there, afterall, it is for wolves." Kiba says. "As far as I'm concerned, as long as there's food and women, anyplace is Paradise." Hige says winking at me. I roll my eyes. "Dream on." I say. He laughs and Toboe makes a grossed out face. "You're childish, believing in this Paradise. I'm out of here." Tsume says walking away. I look at him. "Tsume? Where are you going?" Toboe asks running after him. "If you ask me, he's the one being childish." Hige says stuffing his face. "Let him go, we don't need him." Kiba says. "You two are the reason I never wanted a Pack." I say, get up, and go after them. "Hey Tsume! Wait up!" Toboe says as I reach them. "Buzz off kid." Tsume says and runs away. "What are we going to do now?" Toboe asks me. "Now? We go after him." I say. "Okay!" he says and we start running.
