Chapter 15

Yuna's P.O.V.

I rub my neck again. I still felt like the pole was still attached to my neck. I'd never admit it to the others but, that thing had scared me. At first, when the humans attacked me, I thought they were here to bring me back to the arena, so I panicked and killed a few of them, but, since it was right after I had fought some of Zali's pack, I didn't have alot of energy left, so I was unable to escape. My neck was red, almost raw now from rubbing it so much. Damn humans... "Yuna." Tsume's voice startles me. I look at him quickly. "Tsume...how's Kiba?" I ask. "He'll be fine, don't worry." He says and leans against the tree we were near. I silently sit and stare at him from the corner of my eye. "So...what's up?" I ask breaking the silence. "Hmm?" He asks. "You obviously wanted to talk about something, I can see that much." I say. "Yea, I wanted to check up on you. You seem troubled and you continually rub your neck. Is it hurting you? It looks raw." He asks looking at me. "You know Tsume...if I didn't know any better...I'd think you were concerned." I say teasing him. He rolls his eyes and scoffs. "Not even the slightest." he says acting like something very interesting was over to the opposite side of me. I shake my head and smirk. "Well, even though you don't care, I'll tell you anyways, Toboe will probably want to know. Anyhow, no it doesn't hurt, it's just...I still feel like that thing is still around my neck. I don't really know why though." I admit rubbing my neck again. "Well, that thing was wrapped around your neck pretty tightly, you're probably in shock from it still. But rubbing it won't make it any better. It'll just make it worse." He says grabbing my wrist, and pulling my hand away from my neck. "Leave it alone." He says letting my wrist go afterwards. I sigh and nod. Silence falls over us once again. I look around for Toboe or Hige. "Where'd the other two go?" I ask. "I sent Hige for food, since he decided he wasn't going to save some of the bread for us. Toboe's looking for herbs to put on Kiba's wounds." He says. "Oh." I say and we fall into silence. He sits down, folding up one of his legs, and resting his hand on top. I stare at the ruined city below. "You should rest." He says. "I'm fine. I don't need rest, I just want Kiba to hurry and get better so we can leave. I hate this place." I say. "We all do." he says. I look at him silently. Even though he acts like he doesn't care about Paradise or us, I know he does, even if it's in his own way. I yawn. So, maybe I am a little tired, I don't want to sleep though. "Stop being stubborn and get some rest. We won't be leaving anytime soon." Tsume says getting up. I get a glimpse of his X-shaped scar. "Tsume?" I ask. He stops and turns his head. "You don't have to answer it if you don't want to but...that scar on your chest...what happened?" I ask curious.  He's silent for what seems like forever. He sighs and sits back down. "Before I came to the city, I use to be in a Pack. But, my Pack was attacked. I fought as much as I could but, when I looked around, the other members of my Pack were dying left and right, and the humans kept coming, I realized it was a losing battle, so...I fled. The Alpha saw this and even though he knew the Pack should run, he stayed and well...he branded me as a coward and threw me out. In a way, he was right, I was a coward..." he says the last part more to himself. I shake my head. "No, Tsume...you weren't a coward. You were smart, you knew you'd die if you were to continue fighting, you were looking out for yourself. Yes, you lost your Pack but, you can't blame yourself. If any one should take the blame, it's your Alpha for sending the Pack into a suicide mission!" I say knowing it bothered him. He shrugs it off. "Doesn't matter now." he says getting up again. He stops and looks back at me. "Thank you...now get some rest, I'll keep watch." He says and walks away. You're welcome. I yawn again and get comfortable. I fall asleep soon after.

Hige's P.O.V.

It was getting dark. "Find food he says...well guess what, there is no food! Not even a little. Ugh, and now that Yuna got me to upchuck the entire loaf of bread, I'm hungry again. That woman is a pain in my--" one of Zali's men cuts me off. "You kids really don't learn, hmph. I guess we have to reteach the lesson I gave the other two." Moss says crossing his arms over his chest. "I'm not going to fight you nimrod, so forget it." I say and run away. They didn't follow but I kept running and looking back. I stop after a while. They weren't following. I sniff the air. I smell fresh mutton! I start running til I find the piece of meat. I grab it and find myself in a cage. "Huh?! Dammit!" I say and try to break out of it but it's no use, I don't have sharp teeth like Kiba or Yuna. I needed help. "My teeth are too delicate to break out of these things. "So, dogs still get caught like that." Moss says grinning. "Wow am I glad to see you guys! Could you help me outta here?" I ask. "Why should we?" He asks. "Hey I'm not kidding, get me outta here, if the humans find out, who knows what'll happen." I say. "Looks like we're going to find out." He says looking to the man on his right. I look behind me and see a vehicle coming towards us. "You damn dogs!" I say charging at the cage. His fist meets me half way and I fall unconscious.

Toboe's P.O.V.

Oh no, Hige! What do I do, what do I do! "Caught one right off the bat did we? And a big one too. He'll do well." A human says. "Nah, this one's too wild, put him down." Moss says. I have to get Tsume and Yuna! I run off.  I made it to the grave yard in no time. "Tsume! Yuna!" I call while running as fast as I could towards them. Kiba was standing. "Kiba? Are you alright?" I ask. "I'm fine, what's wrong?" Kiba asks. "Its Hige! He was caught in one of the traps the humans put out!" I say. "What?! Where did they take him?" Yuna asks walking up. "I-I don't know! But they said they were gonna kill him!" "Why didn't he just trick the humans using his human form?" Tsume asks. "Because some of Zali's gang knocked him out!" I say. "Damn!" Tsume says. "We have to go!" I say panicking. "Calm down will you? Lead us to the last place you saw them." Yuna says. I nod and motion them to follow. Kiba was slow, since his wounds haven't healed all the way. Tsume gets annoyed. "This is going to take forever!" He says right before throwing Kiba over his shoulder. "T-Tsume! Put me down!" Kiba yells but Tsume ignores him. "Sorry Kiba, but you were too slow." Yuna says. We start running. I hope we get to him in time...
