Chapter 44

We have been walking for a while, snow had started to fall, covering the ground. Everyone started to see flashing in the clouds, it definitely wasn't lightning, so we started running towards the source. "Did you see that flash in the clouds just now? Look, there it is again!" Toboe calls from behind Hige. "I don't think it's the clouds that are flashing." Tsume says. "Somethings wrong." I add. I don't know why, but I feel uneasy... "They must be reflecting light from the ground." Tsume says. "Huh? It smells like something is on fire." Hige says. We speed up until we're at the edge of a lookout point. We stop and look at what's before us. More flashes of light followed by faint bangs. "It smells like the stench of battle." Kiba says. We get closer to get a better look. As we reach the location, an airship is blown from the sky. My eyes widen as loud bangs and sounds of guns go off. "What the hell?" I say watching the bursts of flames. "Those stupid humans are killing each other." Tsume says. "And all for a Noble's glory." Hige adds. "Kiba we should go, don't you think?" Toboe asks. We all look towards Kiba, waiting for what he says. A highly armored man steps out. "It's Jagara's troops." Hige says. "We've found them." Tsume says. Without warning, Kiba starts running towards the battlefield. "I guess that answers your question Toboe. Let's go you guys." I say and take a step forward, only to have Tsume grab my wrist. "Huh? What?" I ask. "Stay with me Yuna, don't go running off like you did last time." he says calmly. I start to argue but stop myself. "Fine, can we go now?" I ask. We all start running after Kiba. Two soldiers fire at an unarmored human male, but before they could hit the man, Kiba attacks them from behind. They fall to the ground dead as we pass by them. Tsume and I take down a few men atop a couple tanks, felling them easily, as we jump from tank to tank. Toboe jumps down in the middle of a couple, poking one's shoulder with a cheeky smile. The man turns towards him and shoots, but instead of hitting Toboe, he shoots the soldier next to him, before Hige drops down, felling him. The unarmored man is attacked by the heavily armored man, and is knocked to the ground. As he fights to regain his balance, the armored man moves in, and raises his sword just as Kiba jumps in front of him. The man's sword goes flying and soon, all five of us surround the heavily armored man. He shoots that high powered air from his shield-gun at Toboe and I. We jump out of the way as Hige pushes the man from behind him, sending him flying forward, making him drop his shield-gun in the process. The man staggers towards Tsume, who pulls out his knife, and slices the man's armor covering his throat. As that piece of armor flies off of him, Kiba lunges at the man's throat as a wolf and biting into the exposed area. Blood splatters as the heavily armored man falls to the ground dead. The unarmored man who still sat on the ground, widens his eyes at the sight of Kiba doing so. We check the tanks for any stowaways. The unarmored man recovers and points his gun at Kiba. "Don't move!" the man says. Kiba straightens his posture and slowly turns towards the man as his wolf again. The man widens his eyes for a second before recovering and aiming at Kiba again. "Alright, who are you, and why the hell would you wanna rescue us?" The man asks. "It wasn't intentional." Kiba says matter-of-factly. Hige appears at the side of the man and sniffs his shoulder. The man staggers back surprised. "Hey, check it out! This is one of those guys that were chasing us back in the city when we first met Cheza!" Hige says. We all turn towards the man. "You mean you know about Cheza?!" Kiba asks hopefully. "What are you talking about?" The man asks. Toboe drops down in between the man and Hige, followed by Tsume and myself. "She's a girl who was made from Lunar Flowers!" Toboe says. The man's eyes widen. "You're the boys, from Darcia's city!" The man says. Kiba jumps in front of the man. "See, I told ya!" Hige says. "Where did they take her?" Kiba asks eagerly. "Start talking." I say glaring at the male. "I thought...the flower went with you the--" Tsume cuts the man off. "She was kidnapped by people wearing the same armor as these idiots." Tsume says. "Huh? You mean Jagara?" the man asks shocked before looking to the ground. "It all makes sense now...I never understood why Jagara would want to attack us. Arkem. Jagara. Darcia. The Nobles would risk everything they had, just to get their hands on that flower." the man finishes. "Look pal, we don't give a crap about what the Nobles are doing, the only thing we wanna know is if you've seen Cheza." Hige says. "No, I haven't seen her." The man says. Tsume scoffs. I narrow my eyes and sigh. "You're useless." I say and cover my forehead with my hand and shake my head. "But if they did take the flower to Jagara's keep, you'll find it by heading that way." the man says pointing his head and finger towards the left. "Up beyond the sea of floating ice." the man says. We look that way and start to run. "Wait a minute!" the man says. We all stop and look towards the man. "Tell me something...are you really gonna fight Jagara alone?" the man asks. We all nod. "Whether I'm alone or not, I'm always gonna fight to protect the ones that need me, no matter what." Kiba says before we run again, leaving the trashed city, and the man behind. Hang on Cheza, we're coming...
