Chapter 16

Yuna's P.O.V.

We made it to the ruined city in no time, thanks to Tsume carrying Kiba. "Tsume! You can put me down now, I can walk on my own!" Kiba says. Tsume does and rubs his shoulder. "Right, lets get a move on." Tsume says. We see the she-wolf Cole walking. "That's the lady, the one from yesterday." Toboe says. We run after her. When we find her, I see the men who attacked Kiba last night. "Well, look who it is. Seems last night's beating didn't sink in." one of them says. Tsume and Toboe's eyes widen and look at Kiba and I. I shrug them off. "Guess you guys need to brush up on your fighting skill then. I'll be the first one to say it was pretty lousy." I say crossing my arms over my chest. Someone walks up from behind us, making them silent. Zali, has to be. "Zali." Cole says after we all turn around. "You mean you ordered this?!" Tsume says getting angry and taking a step towards him. I stop him, making him look at me in confusion. I shake my head, silently telling him not to do anything stupid. He sighs frustrated but he doesn't do anything. "Ordered what?" Zali asks confused. "Don't play dumb!" Tsume yells. I pull him back again. Hothead much?! He grunts angrilly but allows me to pull him back. "What are you talking about?" Zali asks utterly confused. "Is it true what we heard? That you sold out our friend to those humans?" Kiba asks. "Just how low will you mongrels sink?" Tsume asks getting annoyed again. "What's going on here?" Zali asks one of the males. "Hell if I know." one of them says. "That guy said to kill him! I heard you tell those guys to kill him!" Toboe says pointing at the pervy male from last night. Zali glares at the pervy male. "Moss!" he yells angrilly. "Hmph." pervy male now known as Moss says and glares right back. Kiba charges at him. I couldn't stop him while holding Tsume back, but Zali does, pushing Kiba asside, and punching moss in the face. "This is my pack!" Zali says to Kiba. "Why in the hell did you sell out their friend?" he asks Moss. Moss gets up and wipes away the blood from his bottom lip. "He's an outsider, that's why." Moss says. "Zali, isn't it you who's been selling out your friends?" the male behind Moss asks. "What?!" Zali asks. "It's the truth and you know it! You don't even do a dog's work." the male says. "Is that how you really feel? I always thought as the leader I did what I had to do for the pack. Without letting my personal feelings get in the way. Everything I've done is to protect the pack." Zali says. "Yeah well none of us sees you as the leader anymore!" Moss says and charges at him. Punching him in the face when he reached Zali. The others follow accept for Cole and us. Fighting their own leader?! What the hell is the matter with these idiots?! Kiba and I start to walk towards them, to help him. "Stay out of this!" Zali says and accepts all the blows that they wanted to give him. We stopped. His nose, lip, cheek, and forehead started to bleed from the blows, but he still takes it. We stood there watching in horror. I looked at Cole. Why wasn't she doing anything?! She was the alpha female wasn't she? "Stop it! Just stop it!" she cries holding her hands over her ears, closing her eyes, and shaking her head. Two of them stop, but the other kept going, punching his face nonstop. "That's enough. Enough!" Moss says looking at the male who was punching Zali. The male looks up and stops, getting up. "Wait! Where did they take him? Tell me where they took their friend Moss." Zali says in pain. "I don't know, I don't know!" he says and walks off. The other two laughed and followed. "Zali!" Cole says and quickly runs over to Zali, pulling him up onto her lap. He groans. Tsume walks up. "You don't have any idea where they might've taken him?" he asks. "They had him on the back of an Orange truck." Toboe says walking up as well. "If you plan to give up on Paradise and turn back...now might be the time." Zali says. "I don't have anywhere to go back too. The only thing I can do is keep moving forward." Kiba says. "Even if hell is what we're headed towards." Tsume says. Kiba looks at him in shock. "You people may not have been able to find Paradise...but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind, that we will." Tsume finishes. I look at him and smirk. "Tsume..." Toboe says shocked. I place my hand on Tsume's shoulder and smile. "Made up your mind have ya?" I ask. He looks at me and nods. Zali shows a faint smile and slowly gets up. "Come on." he says. "Zali..." Cole says worried. He looks at her and smiles. "I can still run." is all he says before heading off. We follow him.

Hige's P.O.V.

I wake up still in the damn cage. "This one does look pretty strong..." I hear a human say. "Yea but it's a royal pain to tame dogs that big. If it went crazy it'd be impossible to control, killing it isn't such a bad idea." another human says. I get up when I hear that. "Yea I almost feel sorry for it. Man I always hated to watch 'em die." the other human says. I get up and grab the bars near the back window of their truck as a human. "We're just gonna toss it into the incinerator." the other human says. Incinerator?! "Hey! Come on look back here!" I say trying to get their attention. No use! I don't wanna die! The humans suddenly jerk the wheel and end up spinning out of control. What the hell is going on now?! I catch a glimpse of five wolves running past the cage. "You guys! You're here!" I say noticing 4 of the wolves were Tsume, Kiba, Toboe, and Yuna.

Yuna's P.O.V.

I notice the cage was kinda getting off balance and an idea pops into my mind. 'Tsume! Jump at the cage on the count of three!' I call out to Tsume. He looks at me and nods. 'One!' I count watching the cage. 'Two!' I continue to watch the cage, waiting for it to tip just a little. It does. 'THREE!' I yell and we both launch at the cage. It falls off the truck onto it's side. "Huh?!" Hige says speechless as he looks at all four of us surrounding the fallen cage. "Dammit, do you guys always have to be so rough?" he complains getting up off his back. "Do you know how lucky you are to be alive?!" Toboe scolds him. "Must you always complain Hige? We could've easily just left you here." I say crossing my arms over my chest. "Come on, you can get out of there yourself right?" Tsume says. "Yea, but you know, that barbaric stuff really isn't my thing." Hige says. Tsume and I roll our eyes. Kiba and I bite at the bars as our wolves. I hear one of the humans get out of the truck and I stop and snarl at him. "You damn dogs!" He says pulling out a gun and pointing it at me. I continue to snarl without moving. I'm not afraid of a damn gun. Tsume attacks him so that he misses while Zali took the gun out of his hand. The bullet whizzes right by me. Hmph, how pathetic can these humans be? 5 wolves, and one of him. He stood no chance. I help Kiba bend the bar enough for Hige to get out. He shimmies out and we start running, with Zali right behind us. Zali led us into the broken mine-shaft the old wolf showed us. "This is the only way right?" Toboe asks looking around as we were inside. "Are you sure this tunnel is really safe?" Hige asks. "I'd say it's better than being burned up with the trash." Tsume says. "Hey...Tsume." I say. He looks back at me. "I just wanted to say thank you...for back there..." I say talking about the gun. He nods and continues to walk. I do too. We all stop once we enter a big tunnel after going through the mine shaft. "This is as far as I go. From here on out, you're all on your own." Zali says. "You mean you're not coming with us? You're gonna keep living here?" Kiba asks. "I don't know if the place we were trying to find was real or not, but I believe that there are some who can make it to Paradise...and some who can't. I'm convinced of that, and it's time that you guys find out for yourselves if the real Paradise does exist, somewhere at the end of this road." Zali says. "You know, you don't seem like much of a wolf." Tsume speaks up. I elbow him in the side. "Tsume!" Kiba says. "A wolf protects it's own, it's not natural for it to look after another pack." Tsume says. I roll my eyes. "You're right. I guess I really have fallen." Zali says looking back at him. Kiba starts running, while the others follow. I stop next to Zali. "Flowers are clever things. Even if it looks like they've vanished, they never really go away, you know? Like a pack of wolves. As long as there's a moon, flowers will never die and neither will us wolves." He says looking at me. "Thank you for all you've done Zali." I say placing my hand on his shoulder. He nods. 'Yuna, come on will ya!' Tsume calls out. "Go on, you don't wanna get left behind do you?" Zali says to me. I shake my head, turn wolf, and run after them.
