Chapter 40

"I'm sure Kiba will be alright, and it's not like I have to worry about Tsume or Hige...but Yuna, though she's really tough...she always puts herself in a lot of danger, and she gets really hurt because of it...I'm gonna miss her. She was always like a mother to me...it was nice." I say and feel a twinge of sadness. I'm going to miss all of them... I sigh. "I mean, all I ever did was hold them back...they don't need that. If I'm here, I won't get in their way." I say with a fake smile again.

Yuna's P.O.V.

We climb over a hill and stop. That's alot of sand... "Man, talk about a waste land!" Hige says. I looked around the barren land before us. A pile of something catches my eye. Underneath, was a glimpse of White. "There!" I say pointing towards the pile. "Is that it?" Tsume asks. Both of them look to the left at a vehicle driving. "It's those guys!" Hige yells. I look to the vehicle, to the others, to the pile. We have to get there! Before the others could stop me, I was already jumping down off the hill, and sprinting towards the pile.

Toboe's P.O.V.

The dog near a cloth house starts barking madly and growling. "Oh no!" I say looking towards the Desert's Bones. Eek runs up to us. "Do you sense something?" he asks. "It's coming from where Tsume, Yuna, and Hige went! Something is definitely wrong, I think it might be them." I say. "You mean the people who attacked the dogs?" he asks. "They attacked us too." I say. Eek looks towards the Desert's Bones and runs to his horse immediately after. I follow.

Tsume's P.O.V.

There she goes again, how many times will it take for her to learn she can't go running off like a bat outta hell?! I narrow my eyes, grit my teeth, and keep running. Hige wasn't far behind. "The way they're coming, it's almost like they can track our moves before we make them." I say watching the vehicle, who was going in the same direction we were. The vehicle had a lead on the pile, but, the three of us weren't that far behind. "Which means, it's kinda pointless to run and hide." Hige says following close behind. The vehicle comes to a halt a few feet away from the pile of shrubbery. "Yuna!" Hige and I both yell to Yuna, who was a few feet in front of us and heading straight for the humans as wolf. I find myself speeding up. 

Yuna's P.O.V.

Bastards! I ran towards the vehicle as it stops before the pile of shrubbery. I ran as a wolf, needing to get there quickly. I growl as the vehicle opens. Three heavily armored people come out of it, two with guns, and another with a bladed weapon of some sort. They stop in front of the pile of shrubbery, one parts away the leaves, and nods back at another. Kiba lay almost lifeless underneath. I growl again.. Tsume and Hige pass by me and attack two of the guys outside of the vehicle, Hige attacks the closest guy who held a gun, Tsume attacks the guy with the huge bladed weapon but is thrown off. The guy behind the bladed lance one shoots high powered air or something out of his gun at Tsume, which I take the liberty to attack him so that he missed. Another guy comes out from behind the vehicle and starts shooting bullets at me, Tsume starts running at him, making the guy shoot at him instead. As Tsume distracted him, I ran from the side, and launch at him. He's quickly felled, but an arrow beats me to the next guy coming out. I look towards the direction the arrow came from, to see Eek and Toboe running towards us, Eek confiscates the gun from the dead guy and starts shoot towards the remaining two. The bladed lance guy shoots towards them when all of the sudden, they both fall to the ground unconscious. We all run towards the shrubbery, Toboe coming towards us too. Kiba was emaciated, and I mean severely. "Kiba..." Toboe takes a step forward. "Stay back!" Eek yells running towards us quickly. Toboe stops quickly. "Don't get any closer, the poison from that grass has paralyzed them." Eek says covering his nose and mouth with his arm. "But, he can't be...he can--" Tsume cuts Toboe off. "He isn't dead!" he says angrily. "Maybe not yet, but if we don't pull him out of there he's going t--" Eek cuts Hige off by walking past us into the grass, still covering his nose and mouth, and throwing Kiba over his shoulder, to run out quickly. Eek places Kiba atop of his horse. "Your friend's spirit has been taken. I'm sure the elder can call it back." he says. His...spirit?! My eyes widen in shock. I run after Eek and Kiba quickly. "Come on!" I yell back to the others. "Hurry!" Toboe says before they quickly follow us.
