My Paradise (Wolf's Rain Fan-Fic)

Chapter 66

Yuna's P.O.V.

We stop running and turn back to the now stopped car. Kiba runs to Cheza's door while the male runs to the back to get the old man. He and the old man walk over to the rest of us, while Kiba carries Cheza out of the vehicle. Cheza shakes her head. "No Kiba. This one will walk with you." Cheza says. Kiba nods his head and stands her. Blue comes out with Hige, supporting him from the side as he limps up to us. Toboe, Tsume, and myself go to the trunk to grab the rags. Just in case we need to use them for either blankets or a fire and we walk back up to the rest. We are on the move again. But we stop after a few hours so the two humans, Hige, and Cheza can get some rest. I sat on a rock with Toboe while Tsume and Kiba talked. "I can't wait to get to Paradise! We're so close, I can almost see it! What about you Yuna?" Toboe asks me happily. I nod with a small smile before looking around. "Yuna? Hey, something wrong?" he asks. I look towards him with wide eyes, before smiling and shaking my head no. "Just relaxing that's all." I lie. Something doesn't feel right, not with me but... "Oh, okay. You know, you don't talk much lately. Did something happen?" he asks. "No, nothing happened, it's just everything is happening all at once, it's kind of a lot to process, but don't you worry about that okay?" I say and place my hand atop his head and swish it around a bit. He laughs and tries to slap my hand away. I stop swishing, just keeping my hand on his head. He stops laughing and smiles brightly. I smile back at him. "Hey, Toboe?" I say. "Hm?" he asks. "Promise me something." I say. "What?" he asks. "Promise me, that no matter what happens from here on in, you won't let it change you." I say. This seems to catch him off guard but he recovers and smiles big. "I promise Yuna." he says. I smile a bit more. "Good." I say. "You know, you remind me of a mom, or a big sister." he says all of a sudden. I smile. "Oh yeah?" I ask. "Yeah." he says. My smile turns into a smirk and before he can react, I'm giving him a noogie. "Well if that's the case, then I guess I have to start doing this more." I say and laugh as he tries to struggle out of my hold while laughing. "Ah! No, stop!" he says between laughs. I do and let him go. "Hey, Yuna?" he asks. "Hm?" I ask. "Is that okay? You know, thinking of you as my mom or big sister." he asks. I smile. "Fine by me kid." I say. "Really?" he asks hopeful. I nod my head yes. He smiles brightly before practically knocking me off the rock when he hugs me. 

Blue's P.O.V.

I stand over Pops as he sleeps. "It's okay, he's sleeping. You might as well get some rest too. Check on him in the morning. Of course there's no way of telling whether it's day or night anymore. Not that it matters." Hub says. "I'm scared. How do you think Pops is going to react when he wakes up and sees all of us?" I ask. "I don't think he'll have any hard feelings. He can let go of all that rage now. Thanks to you." he says. My eyes widen as Pops begins to wake up. His eyes open. "Pops!" I say reaching out to him. "Blue...where are you...?" he asks not looking anywhere. I kneel and place my hands on his shoulder. "It's okay Pops, I'm right here." I say. "Blue..." he says before looking towards me and petting my fur; since I changed for him. "That's right...there you are...good girl...who else is here with you?" Pops asks. "It's me Quent, do you remember?" Hub asks. "Yeah...Detective Dandy." Pops says. "Can't you see him?" I ask confused. "The only thing I can make out are a bunch of blurs." Pops says. "Hey look he finally woke up, that's great!" Toboe says. Yuna walks up next to him and nods her head yes. Pops' eyes widen. "Is that the boy? It's not just him, there are others. I can sense them." Pops says. "That's right." Kiba says. "Who is that? Who else is here?" Pops asks. "Please Pops...they're the...well the thing is--" Kiba cuts me off. "We're the wolves you've been tracking." Kiba says. Pops gasps before smiling ruefully. "Heh, you guys are messing with me." Pops says. "We're not." Yuna says. "It's the truth. They're wolves and the Flower Maiden is with them as well. It was Cheza who resuscitated you, she saved your life." Hub says. "They're all on their way to Paradise, and they brought you along so we can go together." I say. "To Paradise?" Pops asks before standing up slowly. I grab his jacket but he swats my hand away. "You shouldn't be moving!" I say but he doesn't listen to me and starts to walk. "Where are you going?" Hub asks. "They wanna go to Paradise together...what a nightmare. If you're telling me this is what's really happening, then you should've let me die." Pops says. "What is the matter with you?! Don't you know how worried Blue has been about you? I know how much you wanna be with her, why are you acting like this?!" Toboe asks yelling after Pops. "Shut up! Blue, you are not my dog anymore." Pops says before my eyes widen and I flinch. "But you can't..." I say and trail off as I watch him go. Hub gets up and runs after him, but I find myself unable to move an inch. Finally, I snap out of my shock, and walk in the opposite direction of Pops.
