The sweltering heat rose in waves around her as she lay under the tree. Every now and then the blazing sun peeked behind a few leaves of the large oak tree Lily was resting under, blinding her momentarily. She was imagining battling a gruesome beast, with a cabbage for a head and tentacle like arms swatting away the make believe sword in her hands when a slight buzzing noise distracted her. She looked around spotting her phone next to her, alight with a message.

You can't mean that, that'd be daft. I think they'd be smarter than that. Lily smiled at the text message from Scorpius Malfoy.

You actually thought I was being serious? Lily tapped send and let her head roll back onto the grass. Her red hair contrasting harshly with the bright green grass.

Of course not, all a part of the illusion, darling. Scorpius replied. Will we meet up again tonight?

Yes, usual spot.

I'll see you at midnight. Lily looked at the message for a while. This was the second time Lily had sneaked out of her house in the past week. Whatever Scorpius needed to say must've been urgent, they usually met up once every three weeks or so.

'Lily!? I think something is burning!' James shouted from the kitchen window. Lily gasped as she remembered the raspberry pie she had left to cook. She would be mocked by any muggle that could see her cooking skills. Heaving herself off of the grass, Lily sprinted inside to try fix her blunder.

A silent buzzing made Lily wake from her light doze with a start. She checked the time, silently cursing herself. 11:30pm. She should've left the house by now.

Pulling a black shirt over her head she left through her window, landing with a soft thud on the ground. She held her breath, waiting to hear if her parents had heard her. She heard her father's loud distinctive snore from the other room and let out the breath she was holding silently. Lily turned and looked directly at a pair of golden eyes high in the branches of the oak tree she was laying under earlier.

'Go catch some mice Zeva.' Lily whispered to her owl. Zeva stared at her disapprovingly, as if telling her off with one look. 'Don't look at me like that, now go.' Lily shooed her off and made her way across her backyard to her bicycle. Making sure to be as quite as possible, Lily walked her bike over to the entrance gate and quietly rode off into the darkness surrounding her.

Why did Scorpius need to catch up with her so badly? Had something happened at his home? Lily's mind swam with questions as she turned a corner. Was he in trouble? Maybe it wasn't anything bad... Maybe Scorpius just wanted to talk... Lily laughed, Scorpius never just wanted to talk. She shook her head and picked up her pace to make it in time to the meeting place.

'You're late.' Was Scorpius' greeting. He had been pacing around the small park they usually met up at since not many people visited it, considering there was no playground most children stayed away from it.

'Well hello! No I'm good! How are you?' Lily responded sarcastically. Scorpius laughed apologetically.

'Sorry, I've had a lot on my mind...' He sobered quickly. Lily lay her bike on the dirt and sat down on a low tree branch, waiting for him to continue.

'Okay... So I know this will sound crazy... And completely out there... I've been felling like this for a while now... Actually a few months-'

'Stop stalling, Scor.' Lily interrupted him.

He took a deep breath, looking at the ground intently before rushing, 'I think dad is up to something... His old ways, I mean.'

'His old ways?'

'Death eater ways...' Scorpius replied, now looking directly at Lily. Lily stood up quickly.

'What makes you think that?' Lily asked, hardly believing a word.

'I don't know. Dad's been up to something lately, I just- ugh. Okay so I got really curious a few nights ago and decided to follow him to see what he was up to. He went to this old abandoned warehouse and there were a small group of them-'

'Group of what?' Lily interrupted.

'Death eaters.' Scorpius answered.

'How do you know?'

'They had the Dark Mark on them and-'

'But they can't be back, dad killed Voldemort.'

'I know! That's exactly what I had thought so I listened for a while and dad was given a task...' Scorpius went silent, looking into the distance.

'Well? What is the task?' Lily asked impatiently.

Scorpius looked back at Lily, his molten silver eyes frozen. 'They want him to collect some kind of seed.'

Lily stopped moving, 'A seed? How is that bad? Maybe they want to grow some plants-'

'Lily, I'm being serious, this isn't a time to joke around. They want something from that seed, and by the sound of them it sounded really bad.'

Lily remembered something Scorpius said earlier. 'Hang on... You said that you could tell they were death eaters by their Marks... But how did their Marks show without Voldemort?' They were both quiet for a while.

'Do you think he's back?' Scorpius quietly asked Lily.

'No, I think we'd be able to tell. Either way dad killed him, all his horcruxes were destroyed, no part of him is left. It has to be something else.' Lily looked around the deserted park as if hoping to find her answer in a tree.

'What do think it is then?'

'No idea, I'll ask dad about it in the morning. He'll know.' Lily looked back at Scorpius' worried face. 'Worrying won't help us, Scor.' She held his shoulder and looked up into his eyes, waiting for the silver in them to melt. When they did she spoke again. 'We'll figure it out. I promise.' He smiled gently and then hugged her, taking her by surprise.

'Thank you.' He murmured into her hair.
