Lily had made it into her common room with five minutes to spare. Quickly answering the bronze eagle shaped knocker, 'What has a foot but no legs?' 'A snail.' Her eyes were wide with the new information. The Red Butterfly was in Gryffindor. Was Scorpius off with them right now? Kissing? Something inside her contracted strangely. If his admirer ever thought about hurting Scorpius, Lily would do more than yell at the Red Butterfly.
Lily asked a third year boy that was just heading up the boys dormitory staircase if he could check if Scorpius was in his dorm just in case he had come in before Lily. He wasn't.
Lily decided she would wait for Scorpius to come back to the common room, so she sat down in her favourite seat and watched the common room entrance. He would be there any minute because his curfew was like Lily's. She looked around the beautiful airy room which was decorated with a midnight blue carpet and its arched windows were donned with blue and bronze silks. Lily couldn't get enough of the ceiling though. It was domed and painted with stars. She remembered one night when she couldn't fall asleep she had walked down the girls dormitory stairs and laid in her comfortable chair, staring at the ceiling until she fell asleep. The Ravenclaw head girl had woken her up the next morning telling her she was late for class.
Lily dozed off for a few moments quickly shaking her head and noticing that Scorpius' curfew was just a minute away. What if he got in trouble for being late for his curfew? But just as Lily began to worry she heard the click of the door and it swung open to reveal a huffing Scorpius.
The common room was full of fourth years and below. Most of them doing homework but the rest just chatting freely. It took Scorpius a minute before he noticed Lily sitting in her usual spot, right under her favourite window where the whole of Hogwarts could be seen in the daylight. He smiled at her as a hello but stopped when he noticed the wild look in her eyes and the large smile plastered to her face.
She could practically see him mouth an 'oh no'. He slowly made his way over to Lily, taking as much time to avoid the inevitable.
'Hey Lily...' He slowly said when he finally sat on a bean bag cushion next to her.
'Are you ashamed of her? -or him?' Lily blurted out without thinking.
'What are you talking about?'
'Your admirer, your Red Butterfly, are you ashamed of them?' Lily quickly refrased.
'Okay for one, they are a girl, and-' Lily quickly cut him off.
'So it is an admirer!' She shouted, a few heads turned to look at them.
'Shush!' Scorpius looked around quickly. 'No... Erm... She isn't an admirer...'
'Don't lie to me. And I know something else... She's a Gryffindor.' Lily whispered, a wide grin making its way to her face.
Scorpius sputtered. 'How do you-? What in-? Why are you-? Who told-?'
'You might as well just tell me now Scorpius, I'm going to find out in the end.' Lily said factually. Scorpius stared at her as if he hadn't expected her to be so casual about it. A dark look overtook his features.
'I'm not telling you.' He said defiantly.
'Why not? Are you ashamed of her?'
'No of course not! Why do you keep saying that?' His voice rose. Now people were openly staring.
'Well why do you keep avoiding the subject?'
'Because it's none of your business!' Scorpius shouted. Lily was stunned at his outburst.
'Fine!' Lily shrieked back and stood up, looking down at Scorpius for a heartbeat. She wanted to say more but she knew she'd regret it later on. She stormed out of the common room and up to her dormitory, punching her pillow in the process. There were five four-poster beds in the large room and Lily's was on the other end of the room. Why was he acting like such a stuck up snob?
'Stupid, arrogant pig-head.' Lily muttered to herself, throwing herself onto her bed. Didn't he trust her? Didn't she prove to him through everything that she was there for him? Her anger made her blood boil. Fine, if he wasn't going to tell her... she would do everything humanly possible to find out who it was. And she knew exactly how she would find out.
Lily quickly opened up the storage box at the end of her bed. She shuffled through some books before finding the thing she was looking for.
'This was my fathers and he had passed it down to me... and now it's yours.' Lily felt the water woven like material. 'It's an Invisibility Cloak.' Lily stared down at the Invisibility Cloak remembering the conversation she'd had with her father before leaving for Hogwarts. 'Dad...What am I supposed to do with this?' Lily asked... 'Use it wisely.' Harry said.
'Sorry dad...' Lily whispered. This wasn't going to be wise at all.
