Even though Lily was joking Scorpius seemed to go stock still.

'You have an admirer? Oh my god who is it? Tell me!' Lily couldn't help herself she felt giddy with joy for him. 'Is she pretty? Actually don't tell me, I'll guess! Just say yes or no, does she have brown hair?'

Scorpius stayed silent. He stared at Lily for a while, a look of astonishment overrode his features which then turned to confusion. His expression changed yet again but before Lily could understand it he composed himself and looked down.

'Alright, no? Okay next question is she in your year?' Lily hounded him with questions but he stayed silent through all of them. 'This isn't going to work if you're just going to sit there and stare at the floor. Where are you going?'

'Look I need to go do something... Um... Can you show yourself back to the common room?' Scorpius opened the kitchen door and disappeared through it. Lily was shocked at his behaviour. Why didn't he tell her who it was? Was he ashamed of her? Was it even a girl at all? Maybe he was secretly in love with another boy? But he knew Lily wouldn't judge him for that! So why was he acting so shifty?

Before Lily even knew it she was silently running out of the kitchen door hoping to catch up with Scorpius. She ran up the stairs to the Entrance Hall and just caught sight of bright blonde hair before it disappeared up the stairs. She followed noiselessly, she knew if she was caught she'd be in a lot of trouble.

A few students were still milling around the school but most of them would be heading back to their common rooms before curfew. Lily had half an hour left before she had to get to hers.

They had gone up to the sixth floor before Scorpius looked behind him. Lily had to jump behind a curtain so that he wouldn't see her. She took several long breaths before she started to follow him again. But she couldn't see him anymore. He was gone from view completely. Lily walked along the corridor for a while, hoping to catch sight of Scorpius.

'Lily?' Lily jumped a foot in the air and spun around.

'Oh James! You scared me.' She held a hand to her heart, it was beating so fast.

'Sorry, what are you doing here?' James asked, he was holding a few books in his arms.

'N-nothing. Oh here let me help you.' Lily scrambled to his side relieving him from some of the heavy books. 'What are you doing?'

'Going back to my common room, I need to drop these books off, want to help?'

'Sure.' Lily said and they walked up the stairs to the seventh floor. A portrait of a fat lady in a pink dress looked down at them.

'Only Gryffindor.' She stared at Lily disapprovingly.

'Oh I know, I'm just helping my brother with his books.' Lily replied politely.

'Tiger Eye.' James said and the portrait opened up to a circular hole that must've lead to the Gryffindor common room. Lily handed over James' books and made to leave but then her eye caught sight of something white half way across the hole.

'Hey James? Can you pass that piece of paper to me?' Lily quickly asked. James was half way through the hole. He handed it over just before the portrait swung shut on him. 'Oh my god.' Lily whispered to herself. She was alone again but now she was staring down at the piece of paper. It was completely blank except for one small detail that caught her eye instantly.

'Well get a move on Potter.' The Fat Lady still looked disapprovingly at Lily. 'Don't forget your curfew.'

'Oh right.' Lily knew she hardly had anytime left to get to her common room. She ran as fast as she could, still holding the piece of paper in her hand. Her heart thrummed. The piece of paper held one little detail that Lily couldn't get out of her head. On it's corner held one small symbol of what she'd been looking for. The red butterfly.

Scorpius' admirer was in Gryffindor.
