The first of September came in like a train wreck. The Potter family was late when leaving their little sanctuary in Godricks Hollow. The first reason being James' fault for leaving the stove on, and that caused the tea towel to catch on fire which quickly spread to the cupboards, Ginny Potter fixed this by a small spell that quickly became an out of control flood as soon as her attention was caught by an owl smashing into the kitchen window. That was the owl's fault. The third fault was Lily's. She had thought it was a good idea to try out her muggle cooking skills again. She set her school cloak on fire which took just a few seconds to fix by her fathers magic but took longer to calm down the scared owls; Zeva, and Albus' barn owl, Coffee, named after the drink he had submerged himself in when Albus had first brought him home.

They had travelled by floo powder to make it in time for the already moving train. Albus, James and Lily had sprinted after the train and jumped on board just in time before it turned the corner.

'Good job team.' James laughed. Lily was bent double, gasping for breath. Another thing to add to her long list of muggle activities. Exercise.

'How come you guys are late?' Scorpius had his head out of the compartment a few doors down. James groaned and walked into the closest compartment. Even though James had eventually forgiven Scorpius, it didn't mean that he had forgotten the traumatic experience of watching his crush accidentally flash half the school because of Scorpius' little misfire. Scorpius' 'secret' cousin had walked in the way of the spell he was aiming for another girl and got the full effect of the Levicorpus spell, a spell in which would hang the target upside down. Thankfully she had it right in her mind to wear underwear that day.

'Ask Lily.' Albus tugged his suitcase after him into Scorpius' compartment. Lily followed.

'It wasn't only my fault! Mum flooded the entire kitchen.' Lily defended her dignity.

'Yes but if you hadn't wanted to be a muggle so much-' Albus was cut of by the inhuman noise that left Lily's lips.

'I don't want to be a muggle! I'd just like to put myself in their shoes for a while to see what it feels like!'

'Whatever you say.' Albus replied amusement in his eyes. Lily's blood boiled. She held back from shouting at him and instead focused her attention onto Scorpius. His silver grey eyes shimmered with amusement.

'What?' Lily asked suddenly feeling self conscious.

'Nothing.' He smiled and looked away. Did she have something on her face? She checked her transparent reflection in the train window. Nothing seemed different. However Lily brushed of the encounter and pulled out a game of Exploding Snap from her jeans pocket.

The rest of the train ride was filled with laughter and talk about what happened in the holidays. Lily wanted to talk to Scorpius about the Death Eaters but couldn't with Albus sitting there. So instead she stayed silent and waited until they were alone before she would bombard him with questions.

'Welcome to Hogwarts first years, and to the continuing students... Welcome back. Now before we start eating the magnificent feast set by the house elves there are a few words I'd like to get out of the way.' Professor McGonagall stood in front of the four long tables filled with students.

'I will no longer be working at Hogwarts starting from next year as I will be retiring-' a loud murmur swept through the entire Great Hall. Lily's insides froze, she looked at Scorpius next to her, his eyes were as wide with shock as hers.

A few seconds passed before order was restored and Professor McGonagall continued with a gentle smile on her lips. 'And on a lighter note, the Triwizard Tournament will finally continue again after an extra two year break.' The Great Hall erupted into cheers, drowning out McGonagall's last words. She smiled and sat in her seat in the middle of the other Professors of the school. Professor Schmidt, the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher who was well known for his overly large muscles and bald shiny head, stood up. The Great Hall almost instantly fell quiet. Proffesor Schmidt's strong demeanour made sure not to have anyone get on his wrong side.

'The reason behind why we hadn't hosted the last Triwizard Tournament was because it had started to become too roudy. Too many life threatening injuries had occurred which lead to inspections. So some minor changes have been put into play. I'll talk more about it in class.' Schmidt concluded and sat back into his chair.

A collective growl issued from each of the students stomachs as the smells from the Start-of-Term-Feast had reached their noses, drowning out each of their bubbling questions.

Lily took a side way glance at Scorpius. He was intently staring at the front table. As if looking for the answer to a difficult mathematic equation. Before Lily could turn her head to see what he was watching, Scorpius' eyes flickered down to her own, unexpectedly taking the remaining oxygen out of her lungs. What was wrong with her lately?

'Come on, let's talk.' He grabbed a handful of chicken wings, placed it on a plate and walked out of the Great Hall. Lily followed suit, going unnoticed by the other students as they too were walking around and out of the Hall.

Out in the Entrance Hall the large front doors were wide open, letting in the cooling breeze from outside. Lily followed the smell of chicken as it lead her to Scorpius standing by the Black Lake, his back tense and hair messy.

'They'll do it this year.' His voice shook and Lily felt her spine crawl as the true meaning to Scorpius' words hit her heart.
