'Ah, what can I do for you Mr Malfoy and Mr and Miss Potter?' Professor Mcgonagall asked when she had opened her door and let them in. The circular room was filled with sunshine and strange objects. An old lone boot stood in the middle of the Headmistress' desk. Portraits of old headmaster's and headmistresses covered the walls, they smiled down at the children.

'We had just heard about what happened to Lily and we'd like to know what happened to Madam Duncan.' Scorpius was the first to state, in his haste he sounded rude.

'That is,' Albus quickly corrected the informality, 'if it's allowed, Professor.' He looked at Scorpius' sheepish grin.

'Very well, have a seat.' They all sat except for Professor Mcgonagall, who paced the room. 'Madam Duncan had injured herself while working and will be taking some time off.'

Everyone stayed silent in shock. They had expected a thrilling adventure. Battling monsters, and warding off the evil. Not something so... mundane as hurting oneself. The three seemed to deflate.

'Well why didn't she tell you that last night?' Lily blurted out without thinking, regretting her words as soon as they spilled from her lips.

'Miss Potter, she was injured so severely that she couldn't tell me or any other professor. She is now at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.' Professor Mcgonagall looked tired, as if she hadn't gone to sleep last night. Lily felt guilty, she hadn't even thought of Madam Duncan in the past 12 hours as hurt or worse. She wished she could have gone back in time and not sounded so conceited.

'What happened to her, if you don't mind me asking?' Albus asked, ever so kindly. Lily envied her brother's way of using the right words, and thinking before speaking.

Professor Mcgonagall sighed, 'She fell while she was walking down the stairs, she left for St Mungo's as quickly as she could. I have no idea how she could've done it though, the pain would have been too much to leave the grounds and apparate, but she did and I'm glad she is safe.' Lily could sense that Professor Mcgonagall cared very much for the people at her school. Albus stood up, signaling for the others to follow.

'Well thank you very much for the information Professor, we should be leaving for class now anyway.' he stated. Professor Mcgonagall waved them off and sat at her desk.

'Well that was... quite plain actually.' Scorpius said softly after the door shut behind them. Albus didn't hear. 'Lily, what do you have next? I'll walk you to class.' Scorpius asked after a few moments.

Lily looked at him startled, she hadn't expected him to guide her to class, she already knew her way to her classes. 'Erm... History of Magic.' Lily looked at the back of her hand where she had scrawled her class list for the day. History of Magic, Flying lessons, Charms and then Astronomy in the middle of the night. It was still a little difficult for her to remember her lesson schedule even if she had spent two months at Hogwarts.

'Scorpius, you'll never make it to Charms, I can take Lily. I don't think Flitwick would mind much if I get to class late since I'm her brother.' Lily thought she caught a bit of defensiveness in Albus' tone, but then it was gone.

Scorpius' eyebrow twitched up, 'Afraid I'll eat her?' he laughed, 'Don't worry my dear, I'll take care of your darling sister.' Scorpius gently tugged on Lily's cloak  to make her follow him. She did, hesitantly. She looked at Albus, her eyes searching his to see if it was okay. He wasn't looking at her though.

Lily was confused, why had Scorpius wanted to walk her to class? She was perfectly adaptable to finding her own way there. And why had Albus reacted in the way he did? Lily couldn't keep her questions to herself anymore.

'What was that?' Lily asked Scorpius as he led the way down to the Grand Staircase. The stairs seemed to have a mind of their own as they moved about. Lily still couldn't figure out the pattern, Scorpius seemed relaxed with the stairs.

'What was what?' Scorpius asked, his blonde hair slipping over his eyes. It must have been another move of Scorpius' to anger his father. Messy hair.

'I'm completely capable of getting to my classroom on my own and why did Albus react the way he did?' Lily was astonished at her level voice. She usually would've been babbling or mumbling by now.

Scorpius laughed out loud, 'I'm sure you can get to your classroom through this maze,' he pointed at the moving staircases, it made Lily dizzy if she looked at them for too long. 'And your brother knows of my antics when I'm around the ladies,' he seemed to pause for effect then sighed when Lily didn't seem to notice, 'Either way, I wanted to speak to you.'

'Why?' Lily felt aghast.

'Because you make good conversation, plus unlike your brother you get to the point without deceit.' Scorpius held the door of the Grand Staircases open for Lily. They were on the first floor now.

'On what subject?' Lily was confused by what he was saying.

'Your parents of course! What are they like?' Scorpius' eyes sparkled.

'Why do you want to know so much about my parents?' Lily asked. Over the couple of months she had gotten to know Scorpius he had asked an awful lot of questions directed to her parents.

Scorpius hesitated, '...It would be nice to know what it feels like to be loved by your own blood.'
