'Alright, that's today's lesson. And please do your research about Devil's Snare! You'll need that information next lesson.' Professor Longbottom shouted to the retreating backs of the first years as they made their way out into the courtyards, but Lily stayed behind and wrote her homework on an extra sheet of paper that she stuffed into her pocket as she thanked Professor Longbottom.

'Lily!'

Lily looked up to the sound of her name as the sun blinded her eyes for a moment before she shaded them with her hand.

'Hey, Jack.' Lily said to the chubby Ravenclaw boy. She never really met him officially and she was surprised that he remembered her name, that was until she noticed the frantic look on his face. He huffed from the running he had just done.

'Y-your... b-brother...' Jack barely got out. Lily's stomach flipped.

'What? What happened? Is he okay? Which one?' Lily was getting impatient and angry with how long it was taking him to answer the questions, 'Well?'

'J-James... f-f-fight...' Jack was still puffing, sweat rolled down his cheek. Lily had no time for this.

'Which way? Just point.' He pointed towards the Black Lake. She took off before he could puff out again. What had happened that made James get into a fight? What had he done wrong? Lily thought to herself.

A large group was stationed under the tree cover so that no teachers could see them. But a teacher had to be blind not to see the enormous group of people yelling. Lily pushed through the wall of people, kicking a few people in the shins when they pushed her out of the way.

'James!' Lily shouted as she saw him throw a punch at another boy. At that moment she didn't care who it was, she needed to get James out of there. What was he thinking?!

'Your whole family is a disgrace!' James shouted into the boy's bleeding face. Lily half tackled and half pushed her brother back away from the boy. She didn't want to look at the damage James had caused.

'What are you doing!?' Lily screamed.

'Teaching this filthy pure blood a lesson!' James shouted back. Pure blood. The name caught Lily's attention. She turned to see Scorpius' bleeding face staring at the ground. Lily was still holding James, she knew he'd do a lot worse if she didn't keep her grip on his arms.

'What did he do?' Lily looked back at James' blazing eyes. The question seemed to stun him as he looked down at Lily then quickly looked over at the Black Lake, his jaw clenching.

'Nothing, don't worry about it.' James whispered with venom. Lily and James had both taken their mother's short temper, while Albus was the one that had taken their father's quiet logical attitude.

'Don't you dare tell me it was nothing.' Lily spat with the same amount of venom as her brother. She grabbed the back of her brother's shirt collar and then Scorpius', dragging them both away from the boo'ing crowd. She took them over to a bench far from the horde of bodies and made them sit next to each other. They sat as far away from each other as the bench would allow. 'Now tell me what happened.' Lily crossed her arms, tapping her foot.

'Nothing.' They said simultaneously then gave each other dirty looks.

'Enough!' Lily shouted at them which made them jump in their seat and stare. Her blood was boiling. Why did they hate each other so much in the first place? She heard feet running towards them and turned on the spot about to shout at the person that was going to interrupt her scolding.

'I came here... as soon... as I heard... what happened.' Albus huffed like Jack did, but not as exhausted. He looked up and saw Scorpius' bleeding face then his eyes zeroed into James'. 'Why did you do it?' He simply asked.
