'Did you hear about Lily Potter? Apparently she had yelled at the Ravenclaw Prefect and didn't get in trouble for it because she had sold a Dolores Umbridge toy to Mcgonagall for half price!'

'I heard she had knocked out a fifth year and Mcgonagall had let her off with a warning.'

'No she didn't! She let her off with a chocolate frog and-'

Lily hurried down the Entrance Hall staircase so she didn't have to listen to anymore of the stupid rumors. She roamed the school on her own as she aimlessly made her way to the Great Hall for breakfast. She could feel people's eyes on her the entire time.

'Lily!' Lily looked up at her name when she had finally made it to the Great Hall. She noticed Albus waving her over to come join him and Scorpius, who was sitting in front of him. As she walked towards them eyes seemed to follow her.

'Did you really kick Newt Price in the eye?!' Scorpius mocked.

'Shut up, you know those are all rumors.' Lily hissed at him.

'We know. Don't worry, we've all been through it.' Albus said while chewing on the corner of his toast.

'Yeah, no point stressing about it, it'll blow over soon. It always does.' Scorpius encouraged.

'What actually happened though?' Albus seemed intrigued.

'Well I was in the library doing my homework-' Lily started.

'Ah yes, to start a great adventure one must first complete their school duties.' Scorpius joked.

'Shut up!' Lily laughed. 'Anyway, I didn't realise how much time had passed and when I did it was already an hour past my curfew and so I ran back to-'

'Wait, you were in the library for an hour past your curfew? And Madam Duncan didn't say anything?' Albus interrupted looking bewildered.

'She wasn't in there, anyway back to the story-'

'She wasn't in there for a whole hour?' Scorpius asked moving to the edge of his seat.

'I don't know, I think I saw her at her desk when I had entered the library, which was after my last lesson of the day, but I wasn't paying attention to her for the rest of the time I was there. Anyway so what happened next was-'

'Lily was in there for an hour past her curfew.' Albus stated, looking over at Scorpius. Lily was becoming agitated.

'And Madam Duncan would have kicked her out one second past her curfew.' Scorpius said.

'But Lily was in there for an hour.' Albus looked down at his half full plate. Lily couldn't figure out why they stayed on the subject of Madam Duncan's absence.

'Guys why are you dwelling on whether she told me off or not?' Lily finally burst out.

'Lily I know you've only been here for a few months but everyone knows that Madam Duncan is one of the strictest teachers at Hogwarts, if she sees a person heading back to their common room with five minutes until their curfew she will lecture them for not getting to their common rooms earlier until they have ten seconds to spare for their curfew. By then they don't have enough time to get to their rooms so she will give them a detention. She is unfair and strict. She doesn't ever leave her post and if she does it's usually to lecture another poor student.' Scorpius explained. 'Trust me, it's happened to me a dozen times.'

'What if she's gone missing?' Albus asked.

'Let's go ask Mcgonagall about it.' Scorpius answered but in that moment a parliament of owls swooped in from the windows. 'After the post that is...' A brown spotted owl had landed in front of Lily.

'Hello Zeva.' Lily whispered to her owl, untying the letter on her foot. She grabbed a piece of toast and let Zeva peck at it. After she had finished pecking, Zeva flew off and back to the owlery.

'Who's the letter from?' Albus asked Lily.

'Mum and dad.' Lily replied as she recognised the handwriting. She stuffed the letter in her pocket. 'Alright let's go find out the mystery of Madam Duncan.' Lily, Albus and Scorpius stood up and headed to find Professor Mcgonagall.
