Shortly after the Christmas break, when the morning was thick with snow, fog and tired voices, Professor Mcgonagall announced to the school that a Quidditch game against Ravenclaw and Gryffindor would commence in the week to come. The tired students spirits seemed to lift.

'We will definitely win!' Jack Edward said loudly, catching the attention of a few fifth year Gryffindors.

'Highly doubtful, considering Ravenclaw has lost the last three years.' A boy with wide blue eyes and shaggy blonde hair retorted fiercely. His group nodded together, daring Jack, with their eyes, to try and argue. Jack fell silent and looked down at his chubby hands as the fifth years chortled and walked off. Lily leaned over the Ravenclaw table and held Jack's shoulder until he looked up at her.

'We will win.' Lily said definitely. Jack smiled and began to speak to the others around him again. Lily smiled to herself and then drifted into her thoughts.

She remembered waking up early on the morning of Christmas Eve to a small black and white eagle owl furiously pecking on her window. She had let it flutter onto her desk. Lily had removed the letter tied to its foot gently as the owl nibbled on her her finger and then flew out into the cold again.

Lily,

Great news, (Merry Christmas by the way, my present shall be my embarrassment.) I got my ear pierced! In the envelope that my trusty steed (yes I am aware he is a bird) has kindly brought to you, you will find a SD card, I didn't send it through email because that would mean the downfall of my great life if it were to get leaked. I trust you won't leak it, but who knows who those hackers might be, it might be your eldest darling brother. Anyway, here it is, my gift to you, my total and utter embarrassment in its rawest form.
Now stop reading and go watch! I mean it...

Lily had been confused at the time, she had already known the letter was from Scorpius, his arrogance and humor was written all over the parchment. She had quickly booted up her computer and slotted the SD card into its place.

Scorpius' mischievous face stared up at Lily from her computer screen.

'Merry Christmas Lily!' He'd laughed shakily. His eyes looked tense but determined. Lily had noticed he was sitting in a chair like the ones at the Dentist's office. A man with piercings covering most of his face smiled warmly into the camera while holding a piercing gun. 'Thanks to my stupidity I have worked up the courage to pierce my ear... Well, here goes nothing... Okay.' Scorpius nodded at the man.

Lily noticed Scorpius' Adam's apple bob up and down as he swallowed. However, Scorpius looked completely at ease. Lily knew him so well by then to know it was all a fake facade. She could tell he was petrified by the hardness of his silver eyes and clenched jaw.

The man held the piercing gun to Scorpius' ear. For a second everything had gone completely silent and still before a piercing scream filled the air. Lily covered her mouth as she jumped in her seat from shock and then she began to laugh.

The video suddenly changed to a close up shot of Scorpius' slightly pinkish face.

'Well that's embarrassing, but I'm not finished yet. Time to go show the old man.' He said into the camera with a devilish smirk. His left ear had gone completely red and supported a silver hoop.

The video changed again, but this time it was pointed directly at Draco Malfoy sitting and reading in a luxury looking recliner.

'Hey dad, look what I did.' Scorpius said from behind the camera's view. His father looked up, it took a second before he noticed but when he did his face transformed into outrage. Lily had felt her spine tingle in fear. How could Scorpius have the guts to face his father like that?

The last thing Lily had seen was Draco Malfoy lifting himself out of his seat and Scorpius laughing merrily before the video stopped.

Lily had stared at the blank screen of her computer for a long time, her thoughts whirling in her mind. She'd remembered that Scorpius had wrote more, she raced over to it and read the rest of it.

Oh how I would adore to hear your questions and disapproving tone. Don't worry though, I am fine! I bolted out of there as soon as the video finished and went to live with my cousin Verga and aunt Daphne, it's a lot better here anyway.

Thanks for the Christmas present (it's like you know me!) Lily could practically feel the sarcasm seep from the paper, she rolled her eyes. I was getting bored of this piercing anyway. I'll see you at school.
Yours faithfully,
Scorpius Hyperion.

Lily smiled, when she had sent his gift she didn't actually know he got his ear pierced. The present was more of a joke if anything.

Lily blinked back into the present.

'Hey Lils, excited for my upcoming match?' Scorpius sat next to her in the Great Hall. She looked at his ear piercing. It was the Christmas present she had gotten him, a small golden scorpion.

'You wish,' she laughed. 'Albus told me that you're a beater...' Lily ate the small tart on the golden plate.

'Mhm, Clayton Rivers is the other beater.' Scorpius answered the question she was about to ask.

'Oi Scor, team meeting in five.' A sixth year Ravenclaw marched to where Scorpius and Lily were sitting.

'Okay, I'll be there soon Markus.' Scorpius dismissed, 'Can I have a bite of that? - Thanks.' Lily watched him gobble down her entire tart in astonishment which quickly subsided into anger.

'Hey!' She yelled after him as he jumped up and began to run towards the open doors. 'That wasn't a bite!'

'Sorry, can't hear you! Team meeting!' He laughed. 'I'll see you later, Lily!'

Lily grumbled a 'whatever' and helped herself to another delicious tart as someone with dark hair sat beside her. It was Kara.

'Hey Lily, thanks again for the present, you didn't have to.' Kara said shyly.

'No, I wanted to! I know you don't celebrate Christmas and all but think of it as... An early birthday present.' Lily made up, 'Wait, I'm sorry if this sounds rude, I don't mean it to, but can you accept Christmas presents?'

Kara laughed, 'Yes.'

'Okay, it's back to being a Christmas present.' The two girls joked around for a while before the bell signalled to go to class. They both had transfiguration with Professor McGonagall.
