A week had passed since the Beauxbaton students had arrived in their giant horse-drawn carriage and the Durmstrang students had arrived in their huge ship from underneath the Black Lake.
Lily and Scorpius had spent every free moment together, trying to pull some new information out of the empty air around them. Lily quickly became bored with the constant question being asked, 'so what do we know now?' They knew hardly anything and Lily wanted a change in subject. But Scorpius had been so determined that any change in topic was quick to anger him. He wanted to know everything his father was up to and to stop him. Lily, however, didn't enjoy this new obsessive Scorpius at all.
'Oh come on Scorpius, let's go play some ball.' Lily finally begged on the eve of Halloween. She had been watching the unusually blue sky as students sat outside in the warmth of the sun. The two were in their common room going over the places they had looked for information already.
'I thought you didn't like playing recreational Quidditch...' Scorpius muttered absentmindedly.
'Well... No. But I just feel like doing something today, come on please!'
Scorpius groaned. 'I'm busy.'
'You've been busy with the same stuff for the past few months! Come on just one game. I'll let you borrow my everlasting eraser!' Lily haggled. Scorpius' head snapped up, looking directly at Lily.
'Let me keep it and we have a deal.' He retorted.
'You know they are rare!' Lily pleaded. Scorpius had a glint in his eyes that showed he wouldn't change his mind no matter what. Lily sighed. 'Fine, have the stupid eraser. But only if you win!'
'You? Beat the greatest Quidditch player in the world? Highly doubtful.' Lily punched his arm as they made their way out of the common room, laughing the whole way down to the Quidditch pitch.

'I hate you.' Lily muttered as she passed over her everlasting eraser, which she had won in a raffle years ago, to Scorpius.
'I love you too darling.' He retorted sweetly. Lily felt the urge to jinx him but refrained from it as a teacher passed by. The whole school seemed to have splattered itself in decoration in the last few hours that Scorpius and Lily had been outside playing Quidditch. The floors were pristine clean and the lights hung without spider webs disrupting them. Lily felt the need to take off her shoes so the floor wouldn't get dirty again. However, she refrained from turning her thoughts into actions.
That night one student from each school would be chosen by the Goblet of Fire to represent their school in the Triwizard Tournament. All the students were meant to go to the feast at exactly six o'clock that night, however Lily had promised to help Professor Longbottom with the Venomous Tentacula plant. It was a plant known to grab living prey with its mobile vines. And considering that Lily had already learnt how to deal with the plant back at Godrick's Hollow with Professor Longbottom, or as he liked to be called outside of school, Neville, who better to choose as a candidate other than Lily to help him? Lily, although not liking the prospects of potentially being bitten by the venomous plant, looked at the meeting as a good thing, she still had the words of 'The Tree of Magic' imprinted in her mind, she found it quite intriguing and wanted to speak to Professor Longbottom since the moment she had found out about it. However, she never quite got the opportunity to speak to him about it as he was so busy lately.
'Oh hello Lily.' Professor Longbottom panted when Lily had walked into the greenhouse.
'Hi Professor.' Lily replied and then gasped as her eyes adjusted to the low light and saw the professor on his backside trying to pull his leg free of the Venomous Tentacula's vines.
