KAI LYNCH walks into a white hospital room, there's no tv, just a curtain around a bed with a lamp by it. He approached her quietly, his chest heaving up and down. This is his fault. He left her alone too many times. She got lonely. That's why she seeked comfort in the arms of a man who once lied to her, did her wrong.

"I'm so sorry, mom," tears roll down his cheeks as he sat down beside the bed, shaking his head. "This is all my fault, isn't it?" He broke down crying, resting his head onto the bed. He felt his heart breaking even more when he touched her hand and the warmth was gone, it felt cold. Almost lifeless.

The door opened and he sat up quickly, wiping away his tears pretty fast. "Oh... Kai, son," speak of the devil. Raphael walked over and sat down in the other chair beside him, putting his hand to Kai's back. "What the fuck happened?" Kai looked at the man with a stern look on his face. "Oh, I-I went out with a couple of old friends from when I was younger, when I came back, she... she was laying unconscious next to an empty bottle of pills, she even slit her wrists..." Raphael took Aurora's hand gently.

He flipped over her hand, showing the bandages covering her wounds and Kai leaned back, scoffing softly. "This is all because of me. And you. You fucking worm." He glanced at Raphael, grimacing slightly. "What? Kai... I'd never do anything to hurt your mom. You do know why I had to leave, right?" He asked.

"Yeah. You didn't want me. Or a life and family with my mom. So you left, to college. How's that working out by the way? I heard you're making... hundreds of thousands? Or some fucking shit?" Kai looked at the man now.

"I didn't leave because I didn't love your mom... I left because of my mom." He said and Kai stared at him with a stern glare that slowly softened into a confused look. "Can we just sit here, drink some tea and I explain to you, what happened?" Raphael set down a cup in front of Sterling, he had gotten two cups. Almost like as if he was expecting Kai to come.

"Fine... only because I wanna be here when my mom wakes up." He whispered and Raphael sighed. "So... I met your mom when I was back from college. I was twenty, she was turning eighteen that summer--" "yeah, yeah, I heard all your romantic story before, cut me the bullshit and get to the point." Sterling cut him off and Raphael just sighed softly.

"When we met, she was just one of the girls from the other side. The... the Pogues. Forbidden and whatnot. So, that kind of... lured me in. She came to me in a dream, saying she wanted me as much as I wanted her... So I did it, you know, I went to her and asked her out. It went well, at first, until my mom found out. And after that, we had to go out on private dates, pretending we weren't actually dating... Because she didn't care that my mom didn't approve of her and neither did I. Our love was far more important than her approval."

His words make him wanna vomit.

He can't believe his dad is actually a fucking Kook. He's half Kook. Oh, man, that's so gross. "But... when I heard she was pregnant, I didn't know what to do, at first. Naturally, I panicked because I was a twenty year old man who just knocked up some teenage girl. Well, she wasn't a minor, she had turned 18 that week... But, uh, it made me worry." He says.

Kai glanced at him. "What my mom would do... So I went to my dad instead, begged him for money, so that me and your mom could start somewhere new. Florida, where she always wanted to go live... I asked him for the money, a home there and not to tell my mom. But she found out anyway, like some fucking mind reader or some shit." He sighed, raising his cup of tea to his lips to take a sip of it.

"My mom, your oh-so-loving grandmother, was threatening me she'd have your mom killed... that she knew people. And she was telling the truth, she wasn't bluffing, I knew that because I can tell her bluff. She was also threatening she cut me off completely, not let me be in my siblings' lives, and trust me... I was willing to die for them, they were babies, younger than me and I didn't wanna be out of their lives. So, my mom sent me on the next flight to my college... We never spoke of it ever again, my mom and dad were so good at pretending I didn't have some kid I abandoned, just out there, somewhere in the Cut, I also began to forget too." He looked down and pursed his lips together. "I'm so sorry, Kai..." He adds.

"For what? The abandonment issues you gave me? I spend every waking minute worried my boyfriend's just gonna break up with me any minute for some girl, because of you. I get scared when mom gets like this, because I think that she'll be gone like you. And fuck, I always had potential lovers get compared to you, my mom told me JJ would leave me just like you left her." Kai sighed, getting up. Some fucking bullshit ass tea definitely wasn't helping him calm down, whatsoever.

He hugs his arms to himself, "this isn't the first time she did this, you know... I was as young as seven when it first happened. She had a note written up, my grandparents cut her off after that. And then again when I was nine. And then twelve. And then again when I was fourteen. This the worst one yet, and she tried to hang herself before." Kai looks over at his dad who's staring at the woman's unconscious body. "Do you have any idea why?" He asked.

He sat down, "because she was just a girl. A girl who had dreams. She wanted to leave OBX, the Cut, she wanted to go to college and become someone despite the fact everyone told her she'd be nothing... That she was nothing." He said and then looked over at his mom.

"If she dies, I'll put the blame on you..."
