𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐲

forty-three: It's Him.

     

     IN THEIR class, JJ sat directly behind Kai who sat directly behind Kie and she was sitting side by side with Pope. Kai was focusing and writing down notes in his notebook, their teacher was talking all about whatever it was they were learning for the class.

Then four phones go off.

Everyone looked towards them. Kie, Pope, Kai and JJ. "Whose phone was that?" Their teacher asked, turning to them. "Nobody?" He says when no one even answers his question. "You will be tested. Now, to recap, who was Diocletian?" The man now asked the class, turning back to the chalkboard behind him.

"An ex-slave who became the ruler of the Roman Empire. His reign began..." Kie looked towards Pope, "did you get it?" She whispered as Kai looked at his phone under his desk. "Yeah." Pope whispered back to her. Kie looked back at JJ and Kai, the dark haired boy leaned forward as the blond boy got off his desk, crawling to kneel between her and Pope.

They all hold up their phones which was a picture of John B and Sarah together. JJ looked back at Kai who leaned back into his seat. "Oh my God." Kie said quietly as JJ got up, grabbing Kai's arm. He leads the other boy out of the classroom, rushing to leave before the teacher could say anything. Kie quickly left as well saying it was a family emergency and Pope left too, saying he wanted to "help them in the bathroom", which just made it sound weird.

"We can go to the courtyard." Kie told the three boys. "God! Whoo!" JJ exclaims when he trips over the mop bucket the janitor was using. "Shit." Kie says as Kai helps up JJ. "Hey!" The janitor shouted at them. "Shit. Come on!" Kie says. "Where do you think you're going?" The man shouted after them as JJ just ran alongsides Kai, holding onto his hand now.

"I mean, is that even possible? I mean, Shoupe said that they didn't make it. He said that." Kie said as she speed walked out to the courtyard outside their school. "Okay, but I... I think we're overreacting right now, 'cause we can't rule out the possibility that this could all be some kind of weird, cruel hoax." Pope said as Kie sat onto the top of the picnic table and Kai joined her, sitting next to her. "I'm just gonna ask."

"What if it's actually him, though?" JJ says as he walked to stand by the wall and Pope got up to sit on the rail of one of the nearby exits of their school. "Then I don't know, okay? I don't know." Pope says as Kai leans closer to Kie who was typing up a response to the unknown number that texted all four of them.

"He reaponded?" Pope asked. "He's typing..." Kai said, glancing up from the phone in Kie's hand. "He's typing." Kie repeated, looking at JJ before looking back at Kai beside her. All of their phones go off, the question asked if JJ was there. JJ typed back, I'm here Bree and sent it as he glanced up at Kai who smiles.

Did you pimp my short board?

Laughter emitted from JJ and Kie as Kai just smiled widely, staring at his phone. "It's him." JJ nods as Kai looked over at him, chuckling softly. "It's him." He nods in agreement. "It's definitely him." Pope says as JJ went to dap him up before hugging him and Kai smiled widely, hugging Kie back who had put both arms around him, resting against his shoulder.

JJ walks over to them, pulling them both into a small group hug before he pulled back. "Yeah!" He shouted before sitting down, between Kai's legs, his boyfriend hugging him like that. "Laying super low in Nassau." Kie reads aloud the next text John B had sent them.

"How the hell did they get to the Bahamas?" Kai asked, furrowing his brows as he looked at her. He then glanced over at Pope as JJ looked up at him, then at Kie. "You can't kill a Pogue, dude." He says to them and Kai laughed. "Especially John B." Pope smiled, looking at him.

Kai pulled JJ even tighter, smiling widely as Kie puts her hand to her mouth. Another text comes, "hell, yeah, we'll clear your name, boy." JJ says and Kai smiled, leaning back. "Be in touch. P4L." Kie says the next text out loud. "P4L, man. That's what I'm talking about!" JJ says as he stood up, turning to face Kai, smiling. He got up onto the table now, "P4L, baby!" He shouted before jumping down and grabbing Kai's arms, leaning in and kissing him.

They laugh in excitement together as Kai stood up and the four of them pull each other into a hug. Kai resting his head against JJ's neck, closing his eyes as he smiled.

After school that day, Kai ran up to JJ, throwing his arms around his arms around JJ's neck, smiling widely. "Hi!" He said and the blond chuckled, trying to hug back but the boy was against his back. "Hey... the others wanna talk about John B." JJ says and Kai shrugs. "We can talk about him another time... I'm too happy right now I wanna head straight to the Chateau with just you." He whispers.

JJ glanced over to where Kie and Pope were, by her car, waiting for them. "Okay." JJ grinned widely. "Guys, we're heading to the Chateau..." The blond says as they walk by the pair. "Seriously?!" Kie says, her brows furrowed. "You guys can talk! We'll see you tomorrow, I promise!" Kai shouts back to them before looking at JJ, pulling him closer.

"Can you believe it?" Kai says, smiling widely and JJ wraps his arms around Kai's waist. "Hell yeah, I told you, didn't I?" He says, leaning in and kissing Kai's neck softly. "You're always right." Kai smiles widely, leaning in and kissing JJ on the lips this time, cupping his face.

rafe kind of annoyed me this season because of the way he would move his eyes, his face or his hands but yk, it made sense i guess since he was... going insane 😀
