𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐲

forty-one: School.

      

     KAI DIDN'T wanna listen to his mom, but then she got emotional and made it about her being a bad mom, so he agreed to staying home and going to sleep early for school tomorrow. She was drinking wine and watching tv as he got out of his shower, sighing softly.

He went to his room, plopping down onto his bed with a big sigh. He lays there for a while, realizing it's barely even night time, so he got up and grabbed his bag from by the door, deciding to unpack his clothes and maybe throw them in the washer to clean them. He groans as he realized that he needed to do a lot of things at home, clean up his room, do his laundry and even organize his school things.

Pogues usually never care for school, most of them don't actually but Kai really needed to do this year well, his Junior year to focus up and try and get good grades to get into a good college. It isn't guaranteed but he likes to dream about it, likes to think about it at times. He worries he might actually have bad influences in his life. He loves his friends, especially JJ.

But sometimes he really wished he should just spend more of his time working at his job better, studying and be the perfect little son his mother always wanted him to be.

He loves JJ, he really does, but all JJ wants to ever do is fuck, get drunk or get stoned. He hates that he thinks this way, he likes spending time with JJ so why does he feel like this? His mom was right sometimes. JJ was a lot like how she described his father who left her. But why does it matter anyway, Kai likes feeling young and alive and he feels that way the most around his four best friends. Even Sarah.

He reached for his backpack, grabbing his phone out of the front pocket to text JJ. He sighed, remembering he did promise JJ he'd go to see him. He turns it on, smiling softly at the picture of JJ laying on his lap, before quickly unlocking it. He opens his chat with JJ, wondering what to say to his boyfriend at first.

J... I'm gonna stay home tonight.

It didn't take long for JJ to respond.

What? Why? You promised

Kai sighed, biting his bottom lip.

Mom wants me to sleep early for school tmrw.

Ok, then i'll come over

JJ, can't I just see you tmrw? Kie's picking us all up and driving us, right?

Yeah, sure, whatever

Don't be mad... :( I love u.

I love you too

Kai smiles, hoping it was actually okay with JJ and then the boy sent a red heart, making his heart beat even faster. He loves it whenever JJ tries to be sweet or romantic with him, makes him feel all jittery on the inside.

Kai finished up doing everything he needed to and by ten p.m., he got into bed with a soft sigh. His mom was already asleep and he felt like he could fall asleep any moment now, that was until there was several quiet taps on the window near his bed so he groaned softly.

He got up and went over to it, furrowing his brows at the sight of JJ Maybank staring at him through the window with a grin and a loopy daze. Kai opens up the window, "what?" He whispers and JJ crawls in, trying to be quiet but ends up tripping over his feet.

"I wanted to see you..." JJ grabs his hands, staring at him with red eyes and Kai sighs. "Fine... but only for a little bit." He whispered, pulling JJ with him to his bed where they laid together, cuddling. "Why couldn't you come back?" JJ whispered quietly.

"My mom wanted me to sleep early for our first day of school." Kai sighed and leaned closer, closing his eyes. "I'm not ready for school... I don't like knowing that we're starting another school year without John B." He says and JJ got quiet, not really reacting.

"I miss him." Kai says, pursing his lips and JJ brings his hand up. "Yeah... me too, Kai. Me too. But I'm so sure he's out there, completely fine and we'll be the first to know, okay?" He whispered back and kissed the side of Kai's head. Kai tried so hard to keep it in, what his mom said about them as he gulped quietly. "Yeah..." He now nods, smiling softly.

He can't tell JJ about his mom's opinion on him has changed, it would break the poor boy's heart because he loves Aurora, she's like a mom to him, which she would be according to him wanting to marry Kai so badly. He cups Kai's face gently, caressing his cheekbone with his thumb as he smiles. "We'll be first to know because we're his best friends." He says, nodding and the other boy smiles, leaning in.

He pressed a kiss to JJ's cheek then he kissed him on the lips. JJ kissed back, brushing his hair gently. He pulls back, "can... you stay until I fall asleep?" He whispered and JJ nodded. "Of course." He smiles, kissing Kai on the lips once more before pulling him close. Kai relaxed into his boyfriend's arms, sighing.

But while waiting for Kai to fall asleep, JJ fell asleep because he got sleepy. In the morning when his alarm went off, Kai groaned and then realized the arms around his waist, so he quickly sat up, sighing. "J? JJ... You were suppose to go home." He shook the boy. "I am home... you're my home." The other cuddled closer, sighing and staying laying down.

"JJ..." Kai sighed, rolling his eyes. "I can't afford to be late to school." He says, getting up right away and rushing around his room, grabbing clothes. "JJ! Get up!" He says, annoyed before leaving his bedroom, glaring as he heads for the bathroom where he got dressed and ready for the say before going back to his room. "J? J? Get the hell up!" He pushed the boy's shoulder and JJ huffs, finally waking up.
