eighty-four: Bon Voyage.

THEY ARRIVE to the Pelican Yacht Club, JJ got out first and Luke looked over at Kai. "Take care of my boy, kid." He patted Kai's arm lightly and the teen looked over immediately. "Better than you ever did." He sarcastically smiled as the man hopped out of the car.

"Hey, Luke," Kie says from the front seat and the man looks over. She raised her middle finger and Kai chuckles. "Go. Go!" JJ stops his dad as Kie looks at Kai, putting down her middle finger. "You okay?" Kie then asked him.

"Yeah... Just worried about JJ."

On the dock, Kai approached his boyfriend now who's standing there, watching the boat take off. "Hey..." He said quietly and JJ just walked over to him. "Let's go... we have to go save the Twinkie." He smiled and Kai nods, leaning in to kiss his cheek before they walk off.

"I love you." He says as he interlocks their fingers together and JJ squeezed his hand. "Well, I love you more... I'm glad that I always have you by my side." He said as he then wraps his arm around Kai's shoulders.

In the truck, Kai played some music in the background as Kie sighed. "So... that's it for Luke Maybank, huh?" She says and JJ doesn't even react, doesn't even look their way as he stared out the window. "Do you guys know what he said to me?" He said all of the sudden.

"What?" Kai asked in a soft tone, as if he's worried JJ was upset. "He said... that my boyfriend was a real keeper. And said he was sorry for all the times he called me names for loving you... He was the first to know, you know? Like that bullshit saying that parents know everything about their children... He already knew I was in love with Kai long before we even got together. He'd complain about me being all Kai this, Kai that. And today, he told me, he was happy for me. And hugged me. Even said sorry for being shitty." He scoffs and Kai suddenly stopped the car, looking over.

"The Twinkie is sinking!" Kie said as a reminder as she switched to the driver's seat. Kai ignores her as he wraps his arms around his boyfriend tightly who snuggled into him right away, closing his eyes. "That was probably the first ever and last time my dad was nice... especially about us." He said as he pulls back.

"He was never happy we were just friends. He always asked me when I would ditch you, all that shit. And then when we got together... I don't know." He looked down and Kai caressed his face. "It's okay now." He whispers and JJ looks up, leaning in suddenly. He presses his lips lovingly and gently to Kai's, "I'll love you forever, Kai." He whispers to him.

"And I'll love you always, J..."

When they get back, Pope, of course, is complaining about how long they took. "Where the hell were you guys?" He exclaimed as Kai looked over at JJ as he walks alongside Kie. "Paternal complications..." Kie simply says as JJ goes to grab the stuff they went to pick up. "Luke was at the Chateau." He says.

"Oh, great! While you were having family time with your pops, John B got bit by a gator." Pope gestured to their friend. "Like, for real?" JJ asked, just standing there. "Yes, for real!" Pope exclaims as Sarah gestured to John B's hurt leg. "Does it look like we're joking?" She asked and Kai sighed. "What the hell happened?" Kie exclaimed with her face scrunched up.

"What happened? I got bit by a gator!"

"He got bit by a gator!"

This starts the arguing. "I don't know why I'm being yelled at. I put my ass on the line." Kie shouted at them. "You're being yelled at because it was 20 minutes--" "Okay, well, we got here as fast as we could!" The group all continue yelling over one another makes Kai rub his forehead then shout, "shut up! Shut the fuck up!" It grows quiet and JJ now stared at Kai with that look in his eyes. "Seriously guys, I can't take it anymore either..." JJ looks at them.

"Everyone just cut it out for a second." He added with a small laugh, leaning against the tree. "Look, I just helped my dad leave this island for good. Like, he's not ever coming back. He's straight up like the Spanish, just, Bon voyage." He said as he waved slightly.

Kie's face scrunched up as Kai looks at him. "Baby, that's French..." He said as the others mutter under their breath. "I'm just saying... I know for a fact all I got is you guys, okay?" He looked up at the others then glanced over at Kai. "You're it." He says as Kai's eyes soften at that, smiling softly. JJ now stands up, "I've come too close to losing you, all of you. I mean, shit, like Kai, you almost drowned." He said as he gestured to Kai who sighs.

"Kie, you stole your dad's truck, they're gonna kill you. Pope, you were kidnapped. Sarah, you've been shot. And John B, you were almost dinner for a freaking gator, bro." JJ says and he looks aorund. "So, this blaming each other is some Kook-ass bullshit, alright? We don't do that. Okay? We're Pogues. Sorry, that was a lot right now. I didn't mean to..." He trailed off as Pope, John B and Sarah all look at one another before they began clapping.

"Well done." Pope says as Kie joins in clapping. "I gotta be honest. That was the best freaking speech you have ever given. Also, you should think about, like, a Rosetta Stone because your Spanish and French are flip-flopped." John B says as JJ raised both middle fingers and Kai laughs, putting his arms around JJ's waist. "We should bon voyage out of here." Sarah said and Kai smiles, pulling back from JJ.

AUTHORS NOTE
since kai technically stole kie's part of going down into the sewer to look for the gun, i guessed the next best thing for kie's "dangerous" thing for jj's little speech would just be stealing her dad's truck because i couldn't think of anything else

+ i'm very slow on updates these days because i haven't been feeling the best but i'm trying my hardest because i have a squid game fic planned i really want done before the hype for it dies down 🙁 (i think it already has)
