𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐲

seventy-five: A Diary.

    

     THE ONLY ones who woke up on time the next day were Pope, Kie and Kai who all got ready in time. "Pope, wake up the boys..." Kai said as he spreads peanut butter and jelly onto two loaves of bread.

"Hey. We gotta go to school, man." Pope said after tapping John B's face with beer cans all taped together. "We have a geometry test in 30 minutes." Pope says as Kai finished up his cup of orange juice before walking over.

"Get up! JJ!" Pope was smacking the boy's face. "Is he alive?" Pope turns to Kai and John B, the dark haired boy handing a PB&J sandwich to him. "I don't know." John B says as he now takes a big bite from the sandwich.

"JJ. Get your shoes."

"Hey, Kie."

"Um... I will meet up with you guys later." The girl said and Kai nods, walking over to JJ and pulling him up. "I'm starving. I need some pizza." JJ says as he turns around before they can leave. "I made you and JB breakfast, here." Kai says as he hands the other PB&J sandwich to JJ who takes it, "oh, thank you. You're amazing. I love you." JJ takes a big bite.

In the van, Kai kept looking back at the two and when the van comes to a stop, JJ flies forward so he rushed over to cushion his fall, groaning. "Come on." Pope says and Kai pulls JJ up. "Let's go. Up and at 'em, boys." He says and hit John B's arm gently as he opened the van door and Pope came over to help out.

In class, Kai kept glancing over at JJ who has his sunglasses on but got scolded by the teacher so he quickly took them off. "Glad you could join us, Mr. Routledge." She says to John B. "Good to be back." He smiles kindly at her.

"Just in time for your first quiz." She said as she set down the paper and John B immediately looked at Pope and Kai, the two sitting on the next row, Kai beside JJ as Pope is in front of him. "A test?" He whispered quietly.

"I told you we had a test this morning."

"No, you didn't." John B whispers again, shaking his head. "Yes, he did. The first thing he said to you--" Kai stops the The teacher clears her throat so they all grow quiet after that. "Psst. John B." The girl by him passed him a note as Kai got to work on their test.

After that class, John B shows them the note and Kai grabs it from JJ's hands, examining it. Bonfire CU there? It said and he grimaced. She couldn't even bother to spell out see you? He rolled his eyes as JJ takes it again.

"Bonfire? Well, I think she meant to give it to me, so we're all good there. We're definitely going." JJ says and Kai rolls his eyes, crossing his arms. "Oh, Mr. Heyward, Mr. Routledge, Mr. Maybank and Mr. Lynch, just the men I wanted to see." Their teacher says, keeping the door open and leading them inside. "Wish I could say the same." JJ says, taking Kai's hand.

"I have a question of an historical nature for you gentlemen." The teacher now leads them into their history class. "I digitized documents for the Maritime Museum, and in return, I've been given access to the archives." He approached the doors at the back of the classroom. "And I found... this." He opens them up, walking into the supply room and bringing a box. "A box." John B sounds a bit unimpressed.

"More than a box."

"That's a good start."

The man brought it over and set it down onto his desk, so they all stood around, looking inside. "Go ahead, Mr. Heyward." He said as he looked up and Pope reached in. "Uh... careful with that." John B says as Pope takes out the plastic bag which had a leather book inside.

"It's a diary." Their teacher explains as Pope carefully unties it. "Who's?" Kai looked over at the man who shrugs. "The author's unknown." He answered and Kai glanced down, looking at the diary in Pope's hands. The boy opens it up and there it was on the first page. The wheat symbol, that was on the gold, that was on Limbrey's letter she sent Pope.

"Whoa." John B says, staring at the diary. "And this is a sample of a Denmark Tanny letter. Compare the handwriting." The man says, looking at Pope and John B. "No way." Pope says in surprise as John B raised the Denmark Tanny letter. Pope starts flipping through the pages, "it's nearly identical." Their teacher says as Pope stops, staring at it.

"This is Denmark Tanny's diary." He said then flipped the page over, seeing the drawing. "Guys, it's Captain Limbrey." He pointed at the sketch of a man on a shore along with people in boats. He backed away and sat down onto a desk as Kai glanced at JJ and John B before looking over at the boy. "August 6th, 1829."

"That's the year the Royal Merchant went down." John B says, glancing at JJ and Kai who are standing together then over at Pope. "I thought you might find it interesting." The man said, looking at Pope stare and read the book with his brows furrowed together.

"Thank you so much for this."

"It's important to know your own history."

Pope looks at their teacher who got up and wwlked away before looking back at the diary. "Oh, my God." He says making the other three boys look to him immediately. "It's the Cross of Santo Domingo." He says and the three come to either sides of him as Kai stood behind him, looking at the diary as well. "Holy shit." John B says. "It was on the Royal Merchant." Pope says, looking at John B then over at JJ.

when they gave pope his own storyline this season but not kie as his gf. it literally made me so sad she was pushing him away and giving him mixed signals 😭
