𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐲

thirteen: Deliveries.

    

     THE next day they were testing out the drone as Kai and JJ stood on either side of Pope. "What's this?" JJ points and Pope smacks his hand. "Don't touch that." He demanded. "I'm trying to work out this thing." He added after.

"So, how did it go with lover boy?" Pope asked Kai who sighed. "I'm sore all over... he's very insatiable." He says making JJ look at him right away. "Jesus." He whispered and Kai snickered. "That was to fuck with you guys, but no, I mean, it was okay... my mom was home so we mostly stayed up, talking... really connecting." He smiled a little bit and then looked back at the screen.

"God bless geeks, Pope. Truly, man." JJ said as John B and Kie come up to the surface. "What would we do without you to control the drones?" JJ says as he goes to lean on the rail. "Technically, it's not a drone. It's an ROV." Pope says.

"Shut up. It's too early for that right now."

"Hey, look, once we get footage of the wreck, we'll bring it to a lawyer in town and file a formal claim." John B tells them. "It's bullshit. Why do we have to do that?" JJ asked and Kai looks at him. "Well, there is maritime salvage law." He says and Pope nods. "You can't just go to the ocean floor and scoop a bunch of stuff up." He adds.

"I know. I know. It's just lawyers aren't cheap, bro." JJ says as Pope and Kai stand on either side of him. "Well, as soon as they see the footage, they'll work for a comp." John B simply says as Kie looks at him. "How do you know all of that?" She asked, smiling. "Cause my dad said it, like, a million times." He answers with. "Yeah, that's fair." Kie says as she swims over to the ladder.

"This tether is, like, really long. In the wrong weather, this thing could get pushed around." Pope explains to the other. "Then we'll go at dead calm." John B says as Kie climbs up the ladder and thunder rumbled in the far distance. "At slack tide?" Kie says, standing on the ladder.

"So now, we just gotta wait around for the right weather." Pope says as they all look at the sky, seeing the thunderstorm clouds. "And today is not that day." He says shortly after when he sees the storm clouds beginning to roll in.

Kai had promised he'd help Pope and JJ deliever some groceries to Figure Eight for Heyward. "You boys get these groceries over to Figure Eight. Get straight back here when you're done. No fishin'." Heyward says as Kai sent texts to Sterling explaining he couldn't see him today.

"I promised delivery by this afternoon. Rich folks don't wanna wait for you lazy sons of... oh, JJ, thank you." Heyward said and handed the bags to the boy. "Sons of bitches." He finished.

And then the boys were off, Kai standing beside Pope who was steering as JJ sat, playing with a knife. "Doesn't even look like the storm hit there." Pope says and Kai looks over. "That's because they got generators, dude." He says as he crossed his arms and JJ nods softly.

"Get used to it." JJ looks back over at them. "And then they say the juice will be out all summer at the cut." He says as he looks away. "It's nice to be a Kook." Pope says, staring before he looks at Kai. "Or at least dating one, huh?" He says and Kai rolls his eyes, crossing his arms.

"Lucky bastards." JJ says shortly after and Kai glanced to the blond before looking down. The boys did their deliveries as they were told before meeting back up at the boat. "Guys!" It was JJ running down the pier towards the boat as Kai was only making his way down, taking his time.

"Dudes, you are not going to believe what just happened to me!" JJ was laughing and Kai looked over at Pope, getting near the boat. "Whoo! That was the best 100 bucks I've ever made!" The boys were off then, JJ helping Kai before they go over to Pope. "When I say count me in on all these grocery deliveries, Pope, I mean it." JJ says and Kai notices Pope looking upset.

Or at least forlorn. "What's up, Pope? You okay?" Kai asked, concerned then he noticed the blood on the boy's face. "Yo, what happened to your face, dude?" JJ asked, also noticing the blood. "Yeah, Pope, what happened?" Kai asked, worried before he reached over and lifted the boy's hat.

When Kai saw the wound, he frowned and JJ calls out, "Jesus!" Pope pushed the hat back down, continuing to focus on steering the boat. "What happened?" Kai asked, this time firmly. "Rafe and Topper jumped me. They said no Pogues on their side of the island." He says.

JJ and Kai look at one another before looking back at Pope. "What are you gonna do?" JJ asked and Pope turns his head to look at the two. Kai can already tell he had an idea. And it might be bad but it might also just be plain revenge.

And it was. Pope sunk Topper's new expensive boat and he showed them. "Wow. You did it..." Kai shakes his head in disbelief. "I'm so proud of you right now." JJ says, smiling as he tucks his sunglasses into the front of his shirt. Pope climbs onto the boat, "JJ? Kai?" He turns to face them.

"Yeah?" JJ says and Pope wipes the water from his face. "You guys can't tell anybody." He says as he shakes his head slightly. "Oh, no, yeah. Totally, dude." JJ nods and Kai smacks his arm. "No, I'm serious, dude. Not Kie. Not John B. Nobody." Pope says and looked at Kai next.

"Yup! Our lips are sealed. I'll make sure JJ doesn't say a thing." He says and Pope nods. "Give me that. Give me that." JJ grabs the part Pope took off from the boat that would sink it before he throws it into the water and they took off.

"Okay! Let's get out of here."
