Cathan Leywin Pov

It's been two years and a half since I was able to communicate with my parents and assure them that I was completely fine, I was going to tell them about Miras, but he told me to not tell anyone about him, I started my training with Miras, and this training is very easy I'm surpri-- WRONG!

This training has been nothing short of hellish, Grey's training would be the baby version of this training, I only get three hours of sleep a day, eating dinner was one of the few things I look forward to every day.

Miras was interested in my potential, he said that a quadruple elemental capable of the higher forms of the elements was almost nonexistent, to the point that there were only two capable of using all elements and their higher forms, those two being Miras and me.

Although thanks to his training I was well on my way to breaking into solid yellow, I also improved my fighting style greatly, so not only is it fit for duels its also fit for fighting against mana beasts, and multiple enemies.

Miras even while holding back killed me a few times, if it wasn't for the room we were training in I wouldn't be alive at all, we trained using multiple weapons, from swords to axes and whips, I also spend five hours meditating in a very mana rich room to progress my core.

He taught me a lot of things, like absorbing mana while moving, shaping mana into a more complex shape, long-range spells, he even taught me to hide the fact I'm a mage while still being able to use mana, he taught me to refine all my spells to achieve the best possible casting speed and power.

"Hey, Miras?" I asked cutting the fruits on my plate.

"What is it, child?" He asked looking at me while cutting a big cherry-looking fruit.

"Why are you here all alone? We've been training for what you said was 3 months on the outside world, and no one came to visit you and you didn't talk to anyone." I asked with genuine curiosity.

"I made a deal with my mentor." He explained in a very vague way.

"What kind of deal?" I've never seen Miras actually need or want anything important, so naturally, I was curious.

"I gave up my humanity to become this..." Miras said with a faint smile.

"Do you ever regret it?" I asked.

"No, I've never regretted any decision I made, this one, in particular, was a decision I'm proud of making, I never had family or friends, I was an orphan and my mentor saved me, took care of me, and raised me." He answered with a nostalgic smile.

It was at that moment I realized that Miras and I weren't that different, both of us were orphans left to die, given a chance by a powerful figure to be happy and strong, is that why he saved me?

"I suppose we are more like than I thought," I said with a goofy grin looking Miras.

"Indeed." He replied blinking.

"Can I ask you some more questions?" I asked looking at him for approval as I cut my food.

"Go ahead, although, I can't promise I can answer all your questions."

"Why did you save me? Why don't you leave this place? What are those doors? And what are you?" I asked all four questions that have been bugging me since I arrived over two years ago.

"Your first question is simple enough, I saved you because we are similar in a sense and because I've grown lonely. Your second, third, and fourth questions on the other hand... The reason I won't leave is that I don't want to." He said with a somewhat bitter tone.
