I walked over to my room, ignoring the dozens of children running around while playing together. I let out a sigh as I jumped onto my bed. I curled up into a ball, unable to suppress my tears.
Arthur had a daughter with Tessia. Here I thought I had a chance with him. Cathan and Claire were already engaged, and I didn't want to hurt their relationship by trying to seduce Cathan. I still remember when Claire told me that she and Cathan were getting engaged. I remember her blush, nervousness, and happiness as Ellie and Tessia celebrated with her.
I always looked up to Arthur and wanted a relationship with him, but I knew that could never happen. Tessia was a talented mage, pretty looking, popular, and she's known him since they were kids. My brother already told me that Arthur and Tessia were dating, but I didn't know they'd known each other since they were kids, so I thought I had a chance, but alas, I guess it won't happen no matter how much I tried.
Arthur was a strong mage, so much so that he defeated a teacher with his weakest elements at the age of twelve. Those teachers were all yellow core mages capable of achieving AA-class as adventurers. With his death, we lost some of our hope and morale. Cathan and Azrael were our only hope of victory in this war, and yet, it seemed Cathan was hiding something.
I always thought he was hiding something about Arthur and Sylvie's death, but I also knew he wouldn't let Azrael suffer like this. After every training session, Uriel would tell Curtis and me not to ask about what Cathan was hiding and that he would inform us when the time was right, but I couldn't help but grow curious.
"We will learn when the time is right," I repeated Uriel's words mockingly.
Commander Virion was quite curious about what Cathan was hiding, but he trusted whatever reasoning he had for not telling us. Even Azrael, Claire, and his mother didn't know what Cathan was hiding, so it had to be something dangerous or something that would help us.
I shook my head away from these thoughts and remembered Arthur's daughter. She had his blue eyes and auburn hair, but she also had Tessia's pale skin and elven ears. I remember what Cathan said about her awakening and magic, so I knew even her magic capabilities were an anomaly, just like her father.
I grew jealous while thinking of the time Tessia and Arthur spent together. They even had a daughter. Eleanor, Arthur's sister, and Azrael spent a lot of time with Chloe. Maybe that was their way of filling the void in their heart, but I couldn't look at her without feeling jealous.

I observed the man reading a parchment silently as my eyes tracked all of his movements. I sighed and decided to let him know that I was here. I slowly walked towards his desk and stood in front of it.
"Hello, Mr. Frost." I greeted coldly.
The man looked up, and his eyes widened as he bolted up and bowed. "Hello, Mr. C."
The reason he was referring to me as "Mr. C" was in case someone was spying on us and heard my name. I snapped my fingers, and a sound barrier formed around the room. I was invisible to everyone but Highlord Frost, but that didn't mean they couldn't hear him.
"I presume you didn't forget the favor you owe me, Mr. Frost." I started.
"No, Mr. C, I have not." He replied from his bow.
"Good. That will make things easier." I nodded. "I want you to help one of my people."
"May I ask in what way?" He stood up and asked.
"A named blood is putting him on trial for murder. Usually, I would let the trial play out, but the named blood will rig the trial, and I trust the man in question. I'm sure you can see where this is going." I stated.
