Cathan Leywin Pov
Standing more than twenty meters tall, high above was a colossal mana beast. With a humanoid structure that oddly resembled a centaur, it towered over us like a massive building.
While it seemed made of densely packed and intertwined vines, the top half of its body was that of an armored man holding a drill-like lance that came to a menacing point just over our heads. Its lower body was that of a horse, but rather than legs. Two red eyes peered down at us, filled with unbridled bloodlust.
"Get ready to battle!" Liesmas roared.
I quickly imagined a double-bladed scythe. The scythe was longer than I was tall. But was thin and sharp, the double-bladed scythe alongside my expertise in the water sect created a flurry of slashes.
Noah shot forward, his lightning-clad spear cutting through the vines like a storm. Madam Astera used her wind magic to protect Liesmas while he conjures.
Using my ice magic, I froze the vines before they could even come close. My sound magic crushed every vine that managed to survive my ice. My scythe a storm as it cut through the vines, my speed enhanced by wind magic.
Every once in a while, most of the vines returned to their body, the reason being Liesmas' fire spells. His fire burned through the vines, leaving nothing behind.
Using his water magic, Liesmas created a spell that would absorb the moisture in the air. That led to the vines having to scatter when he used that spell.
Madam Astera was a flurry of cuts and jabs. The vines couldn't come close to Liesmas. As more and more vines started moving, we could see three figures inside the elder wood guardian.
We couldn't see anything other than their heads. One of them had blonde hair and had an insane expression. The other two had a fearful expression on their scarred faces and bright brown hair.
"Aurora! Can you create an ice spell to freeze the elder wood guardian?" Noah yelled out.
"I can freeze it, but it'll live," I yelled out in reply.
"Liesmas and I will take care of that. Move towards Astera so she can cover you." Noah ordered.
Rather than moving to Astera as Noah ordered, I pulled out three of my mist jars and threw them on the floor. The mist came out of the now broken jars, once again covering the entire room.
"How the hell are we going to see past this mist?" Astera roared.
"Don't worry about that." I comforted.
Like the mist from the forest of Elshire, this mist had a few exceptions to who sees through it. I controlled it so the others could see past it. The elder wood guardian, on the other hand, couldn't see past my mist.
The mist caused the vines to swing chaotically through the room, which made cutting the vines easier. Giving myself some freedom, I focused on my ice magic.
Ice magic needs extreme control in situations like this, I need power so the Elder wood couldn't break out, and I need control to avoid hurting my team.
I could hear the vines attacking my illusions. The mist and illusions will only work if the target is weaker. Being a species native to the forest of Elshire won't affect mist spells outside the forest of Elshire.
"Ready!" I shouted.
Deeming the spell ready, I released it. The ice spread from underneath me and froze everything it touched. The elder wood could only watch as the ice that broke regenerated.
