Cathan Leywin Pov

"We are here to offer you something most people would kill for." The king started.

"Would you like to achieve a white core?" The queen finished with a small smile.

"Achieving a white core would be ideal, but may I ask how you plan on helping me with that? The overuse of elixirs is deadly for humans." I stated.

"We will not be using elixirs. We want you to become a lance." The king stated.

I could practically see his greed manifest while achieving a white core is almost impossible for any human. Arthur and I can absorb the mana of all four elements, so our growth is faster than any other race.

The artifacts bind the holder and the receiver. In return for becoming a puppet, the receiver can reach a white core. It doesn't matter when they receive the artifact. They will achieve the white stage.

"A lance?" I questioned, feigning confusion.

"They are the two most capable individuals of each race. They are all presented with an artifact. This artifact binds the receiver and the holder but in return grants a white core." The queen explained.

"I refuse," I stated, already walking towards the exit.

"M-Mr. Aurora, we beg you to reconsider. A white core is something mages would kill for." The king pleaded.

"That is correct, but I'm not going to become your puppet, king Glayder," I spoke with a cold voice, ensuring he gets the message.

I walked outside, not even glancing at them. It's time I start working on my core and magic, something I didn't progress in during my two years of adventuring.

Walking towards our inn, I couldn't help but chuckle. Miras knew someone was going to give us this offer. Did he change where Sylvia teleported Arthur?

It seemed very plausible, if the humans kidnapped Tess, it would lead to a war between the humans and elves, and Arthur and I would've died from the strength of our beast wills.

I could hear someone running towards me. The footsteps were unmasked. I turned around, mana covering my entire body, my hand already reaching towards Rupa.

"M-Mr. Aurora." Claire said, panting.

"Is there something I could help you with?" I asked, observing the young mage.

"I wanted to ask you if it was wise to act that way in front of the royal family." She asked, her voice showing concern.

"There's only one human mage stronger than me and another one on my level. Besides, you can't make allies through threats." I explained, turning around.

"I-I see..." Her voice trailed off.

"Um... Mr. Aurora, can you help me with my wind magic?" Claire asked. I turned to face her, but she avoided my gaze.

"Yes, that won't be a problem," I replied, inspecting her core.

We walked towards one of the training grounds. You had to be an A-class adventurer or higher to access them. There were a few exceptions, such as the guild leaders.

"I'm guessing you use a rapier?" I guessed, starting to stretch.

"Yes." She replied, showing me her sword.

"Aren't you going to stretch?" I asked, looking at her with a raised brow.

"Do I have to? I'm only going to be using my sword." She muttered.
