"The people of Dicathen have slaughtered our just protectors! Their crimes shall not go unpunished, for they have angered the great Vritra!" A man with a red mask declared.
I sank back in my seat and let out a sigh. It was tiring. The Victoriad caused chaos to ensue in all of Alacrya, even starting a war between Vechor and Shez-Clar again.
The death of scythe Nico by Arthur Leywin caused Alacrya to grow worried. A year ago, he couldn't beat scythe Nico, but now, he was toying with scythe Nico.
Then there was the death of the four retainers. Why did the scythes and sovereign Kiros not interfere? After Cathan Leywin avoided sovereign Kiros' attack, they just let him do as he pleased.
The only thing anyone could understand from the footage was that sovereign Kiros was angry, but when Cathan Leywin mentioned the name "Miras," sovereign Kiros looked terrified.
It puzzled everyone since there were no records on someone called Miras. Despite that, what made everyone more confused was who that woman was.
When scythe Nico was bleeding to death, he saw her, and his eyes widened. The woman looked back at him, and her eyes were disgusted, sad, angry, and happy. It puzzled everyone what their relationship was.
Then there was the betrayal of Lady Caera and Scythe Seris. Everyone knew those two as talented and strong people, so their betrayal was very dangerous to Alacrya.
Scythe Seris Vritra was one of the strongest scythes and could match even scythe Cadell Vritra, so she's as dangerous as Arthur Leywin and Cathan Leywin.
Furthermore, I heard Cathan Leywin might be training Lady Caera. She would be even more dangerous than when she escaped from Alacrya. She was at the level of a retainer before running away, so she might be capable of defeating a scythe after training for a few months.
After their betrayal and the Victoriad came the death of the scythes. The Dicathen resistance killed Scythes Dragoth, Cadell, Klystis, Nezera, and Nico.
"To think that Professor Grey was Arthur Leywin." Mayla sighed, her face solemn.
"I didn't believe it at first either," Valen added. "But it makes sense. Why scythe Seris and Lady Caera seemed scared of him."
"The two of them betrayed us as well." Enola snorted disdainfully.
"Can you try to be a little nicer when speaking about them, Enola?" Valen asked. "Professor Grey is the reason you got a regalia."
"And he's the reason they're sending me to fight in a war against asuras, so yipe!" Enola retorted.
With that, the carriage fell into silence. It was quiet, with the only sounds being the carriage's wheel turning and the horses' feet clopping on the concrete floor.
Enola's reason for hating professor Grey was valid. Her brother died when the first retainer, Jagrette, attacked Dicathen. In the end, Arthur Leywin killed retainer Jagrette.
Now, because of his influence, she's being sent to fight a war between asuras. She hated him, and he probably hated all of Alacrya.
Now that I think about it, my sister is probably why he always hated me. I heard that he was a lance of Elenoir and was trained by Elenoir's former king, so the fall of Elenoir was most likely a sore spot for him.
Suddenly, the carriage skidded to a stop. I looked outside the window and saw we were inside an alleyway. I looked at the others, who were exchanging glances.
It was a trap.
I opened the door and stepped out with mana covering my body. The driver just sat in the front, unmoving despite feeling my use of mana.
