Cathan Leywin Pov

Arthur and I attempted to persuade our parents from joining the war, but they didn't relent, and we learned about Lensa, the eighth member of the twin horns. My mother always felt guilt from deriving her friend of the one thing that gave her happiness, and I couldn't help but sympathize.

After Grey died in our past life, I forced the council to execute me. They tried dissuading me, but I knew I couldn't live with myself for failing to protect Grey. Besides, if they claimed I killed Grey, it would remove any viable reason to start a war. I sacrificed my life for the lives of thousands, if not millions of soldiers.

I walked through the halls of the flying castle, something my ancestors left after their extinction. A few curious glances and mutters from maids were the only things I felt or heard for a while.

I kept walking until I spotted a familiar gunmetal-haired elf girl walking. I couldn't tell what sort of expression she wore, but I could see tears dripping down her cheek. I sped up to catch up to her.

"Tess?" I put a hand on her shoulder as she squealed in surprise.

"C-Cathan?" Tess turned around and spoke, her voice hoarse.

"Are you okay? I could see you crying from across the world, and here I thought you stopped being a crybaby." I teased.

"Fine," Tess muttered, wiping her eyes.

"I was saying that as a joke, but seriously, are you okay?" I frowned.

"Of course I'm fine!" Tess snapped, making me take a step back.

"Are you any my idiot brother fighting?" I raised a brow, recomposing myself and creating a sound barrier around us.

"I'm sorry about that... We're not fighting." Tess mumbled, then shook her head.

"Are you sure? I can always ask Sylvie. Arthur doesn't know how to hide his thoughts from her." I pried, gesturing for her to walk alongside me.

"I found out about my master dying..." Tess mumbled as she walked alongside me.

"Oh..." I realized with a jolt.

"I kept asking why her body was in the dungeon and why no one told me about her death. Arthur argued that I would've run off and would start killing Alacryans for revenge. After that, he stated that I was like a child throwing a tantrum." Tess frowned.

"I see," I mumbled, realizing the reason behind this.

I recalled Grey telling me of how he lost his two childhood friends, Nico and Cecilia because he was trying to avenge his mother figure, the person who took care of him, the orphanage headmistress.

"Tess. I know how you might feel after that, but Arthur doesn't want you going off and getting yourself killed. He said that using his own experience." I stated.

"When did Arthur have experience in revenge?" Tess asked.

"Sylvia's death scarred Arthur. If he sees her killer, I don't doubt he would go for revenge and kill him or die in the process. He had a few other small revenge sprees and almost died. He doesn't want to lose you." I explained.

"I see... Did you ever seek revenge?" Tess asked curiously.

"No. The only one I cared about who died is Miras, and he's not even fully dead." I shook my head.

"I'm going to go look for Arthur," Tess stated as she knocked on the air, and I quickly realized what she wanted me and dispersed the sound barrier.

Tess ran off without a second glance, her expression guilty and concerned as she rushed off. With a sigh, I continued my thoughtful and directionless wander.
