Cathan Leywin Pov
"That's our plan for now." Virion announced.
"What about the other lances?" Astera crossed her arms.
"Aya is helping the other lances hide their mana signatures, so it's almost impossible to find them. We have to make them look for us." Virion sighed.
"Since this meeting is over, I have some matters to attend to." I stood up and gestured for Uriel.
"I'm guessing this has to do with your secret project or whatever?" Curtis frowned.
"In a way." I nodded as Uriel stood up.
"Am I the only one who thinks it's suspicious that Cathan and Uriel are working on a project without telling us anything?" Curtis' furious gaze swept across the meeting room.
"What are you getting at?" Virion frowned.
"Our strongest allies aren't telling us everything they know! They also happen to be working on a secret project, and that's suspicious!" Curtis yelled, glaring at me.
"If I wanted to betray you, then I wouldn't need some project or anything. Uriel just told you about a spell enhancer that can strengthen my spells to the point that I can recreate a continent." I retorted calmly.
"I'm not saying you're trying to betray us, but that you're hiding something," Curtis argued again, increasing the tension in the room.
"Then what about you? Why are you trying to hide the knowledge of your parents' betrayal of Dicathen?" I retorted, losing my patience.
"They did that because Dicathen wouldn't be able to win!" Curtis protested.
"If you accepted that as reasoning for their betrayal, why are you trying to fight back now?" I raised a brow.
Curtis opened his mouth to retort, but couldn't, so he just stomped away from the room, shooting me angry glares. Kathlyn quickly ran after her brother as the others were disturbed by Curtis' behavior, but I sighed before following Uriel.
Uriel led me into one of the tunnels, which I hid with an illusion. The two of us walked through the wall and were now inside Uriel's library. It looked like an old English-style library, but it seemed the Djinn liked this style in particular.
Two red couches faced each other with a coffee table between them. Tall bookshelves filled the otherwise empty room. Each bookshelf was clean and well organized, housing all possible genres, from poetry and art to aether arts and military strategies.
"It must be hard for you to carry the knowledge of your brother's survival," Uriel commented as he changed from his black robe to a white scientist coat.
"It's best if I hide that knowledge." I sighed, sinking into one of the couches.
"For now, perhaps, but you will have to tell them when he learns that ability," Uriel replied.
"That's the plan." I dismissed. "Now, how close is the vessel to being completed?"
"Perhaps one more month. The mana you supplied has been most beneficial." Uriel pondered for a moment before answering.
I nodded approvingly. "Did you encounter any difficulties?"
"The main concern is the soul rejecting the vessel, but both the soul and body are strong enough to handle the rejection without any side effects," Uriel stated.
"That's good." I stood up and followed Uriel.
Uriel and I nodded at each other before placing a palm on the hidden lock. Purple runes spread from underneath our palm before covering the entire room. The runes took on the shape of a spider web before the door slid open slowly to reveal a futuristic-looking lab.
