Cathan Leywin Pov

"Claire..." I muttered, witnessing what the godrune wanted me to see.

The scene repeated itself over and over again. It showed me sitting inside a white room, with Claire in my arms, her lifeless body lying on the cold ground.

The godrune showed me Claire's death in my arms.

I crumbled to the ground as my breathing hitched and tears streamed down my face. I could hear my heart pounding against my ears, but nothing else.

With just a single thought, I conjured a teleportation gate below me. I let the asura live, as she was no longer worth it. My surrounding turned into a blue blur as the portal quickly took me towards my destination.

As I arrived, I quickly ran towards the woman groaning in pain. "Claire!"

"C-Cathan..." Claire muttered, barely able to look up.

I quickly picked her up and gently laid her in the bed. Activating the Immortal Eye, I could see her organs, blood veins, and nervous system.

'Mom! Come to Claire's room!' I yelled out using telepathy.

I could hear someone hastily rush down the stairs, and my anxiousness eased a little. I could still hear my heartbeat echoing in my mind as I held Claire's hand.

"Cathan!" My mother rushed in, followed by Tessia.

My mother quickly rushed over to Claire, and a green hue emitted from her hand as she began to check Claire's condition. I held onto Claire's hand as her panting eased a little.

"She's going into labor." My mother muttered before facing Tessia, who stood by the door. "Tess, go get towels, gloves, a pair of scissors, and a basin full of lukewarm water!"

Tessia nodded and quickly ran out of the room. I held onto Claire's hand, not letting go as my mother prepared. Claire let out a pained moan as she tightened her grip on my hand.

Tessia rushed back into the room and put on gloves alongside my mother. Tessia dragged a basin filled with water into the room and placed down everything my mother requested.

"Cathan, we need you to hold Claire's hand and make sure she doesn't pass out." My mother ordered as I stiffly nodded.

The vision of Claire's death was fresh in my mind, and I would do anything to make sure it won't happen. Claire's grip slightly weakened as she panted.

Tessia placed a wet towel on Claire's head as my mother got to work. She re-angled Claire, so she sat up, then my mother propped up her legs on what looked like calf holders.

My mother lowered herself and checked Claire's entrance before nodding to herself and backing away. An emitter walked into the room, holding more towels, and my mother quickly ordered her around.

"Second phase and the third phase is about to begin!" My mother announced as Tessia, the emitter, and she all got to work.

They quickly gathered all the medical supplies they'd need, from towels and gloves to medical pliers. The nurse emitter came over and began to check Claire's vitals.

Claire groaned in pain, her breathing heavy and eyes teary as everyone helped. I held her hand tightly, kissing her cheek. Claire let out a soft chuckle, saying it tickled.

I continued to whisper into Claire's ears, telling her how much I loved her and reminding her of all our dates. Claire responded with strained hums and tense nods, trying to relax.

After about twenty minutes, she threw her head back as she screamed in pain. My mother quickly rushed over, checking her dilation and announcing Claire's progress.
