Cathan Leywin Pov

"Art, wake up!" Tess shouted, shaking my sleeping brother.

"I already told you, violence is the only way to wake him up." I sighed.

"Caw!" Azrael croaked in agreement.

"I don't want to hurt him, though." Tess pouted with her arms crossed.

"Fine, I have an idea." I relented.

I covered my hand with water and made it colder using ice magic. Tess moved away, thinking I was going to use that to wake him up. I did use the water to wake him up, just not in the way she expected.

Rather than placing my hand on his neck to wake him, I shot the cold water at his face, making him shoot up, screaming about the cold water. The startled Sylvie was about to attack me, but Tess caught her.

"D-Did you have to wake me up like that? There has got to be a better way to wake me up besides physical pain," He grumbled, his teeth chattering from the cold.

"You're telling me. Do you know how hard it is to wake you up? And you reward me by throwing Sylvie at me? Thank god, Tess caught her." I sighed.

"Anyways! We're going to be late if you don't hurry up and get ready. I've already washed up, so get your butt out of bed." I pushed him off with my foot.

"Let's go wash up, Sylv!" He pretended to be excited as I grabbed his companion and headed over to the shower.

"Kyuuuu!" The desperate wails of Sylvie merely escaped out the other ear as Arthur hauled her inside.

Sylvie now had fur or very thin, long, and soft scales that were similar to fur. That meant that she attracted dirt like a magnet, so washing her more often had become required.

"Is that how you wake him up every day?" Tess asked as we walked towards the dining room.

Since Arthur, Lilia, and I are all going to Xyrus academy, Tess stayed with us until our first day at Xyrus academy. Father made sure to tease Arthur about having a girlfriend, while mother was a lot more calm.

"Yep, although usually, Sylvie manages to scratch my face." I glared at the furball in Tess' arms.

"Caw!" Azrael let out a croak, scolding his sister for not waking up early.

"Kyu..." Sylvie complained about waking up early.

"It's fine, Azrael. Sylvie needs her beauty sleep." I smirked.

"Grr..." Sylvie growled.

"I think Sylvie is already too cute!" Tess exclaimed, hugging the dragon.

"Are you sure you made the right choice, Cath? I can't believe you wanted to go in as a scholar mage. I thought you would for sure go in as a battlemage like me," Tess remarked.

"I don't need help with fighting or tactics. It's just my magic that needs improvement," I replied.

"Took you long enough to get ready! Who are you guys trying to impress?" My mother wagged her finger at us while Tabitha started giggling.

"You can ask Tess. I'm not trying to impress anyone." I rebutted.

The uniforms that Xyrus had sent us weren't too out of the ordinary. For me, it consisted of a white dress shirt, a grey vest, a maroon string we tied around our necks underneath the collar, and a pair of tailored navy dress pants. There was also a gold pocket watch attached to a chain, overall giving a scholarly look.

"Good morning. Hurry up and eat. Lilia is supposed to be up on stage for the orientation since she's part of the student council. She's probably nervous by now, so make sure you cheer her on." Tabitha sat down across from us next to Mother and Ellie.
