*Shelby's P.O.V*

It's another day at Hilltop. Just another ordinary day.

People gardening, going on runs to get food, or spending time with friends and family.

The rest of my family, which included my brother and niece, lived in Alexandria.

You're probably wondering why I live at hilltop and not Alexandria? Well, I used to live there. But after the six year time jump, I made adjustments to fully live here.

When Alden got taken prisoner here at hilltop during All Out War, I wasn't living here. Sure, I'll spend the night and stuff but I wasn't permanently living here.

But I was always around at the hilltop so that's how my crush on Alden had begun.

Hell, I was here when he first arrived here and I knew he was special. Even though we barely spoke a word to each other back then.

But we speak to each other now, just not as much as I would like.

Since I had nothing to do right now, I figured I'll sharpen my knife.

I walked over to where Earl was working, with Alden there as well, and started to talk to them.

"Hey, Earl. Do you have a brick that I can borrow?" I asked.

Earl nodded and put his equipment down. "Yes, I'll go get one for you."

While Earl walked away, I tried to avoid looking at Alden. Since it's only been a day since we were caught staring at each other.

"Why do you need a brick?" Alden then asked me.

I knew I couldn't completely avoid his gaze. Since he was right there.

"I need to sharpen my knife. The ends are beginning to become dull."

He stayed silent after that. But it was then my time to ask him a question.

"What happened to your arm?" I asked him.

He looked at me and then down at his arm that was wrapped around in a bandage. "A piece of metal cut my arm while I was working. It should be healed in a few days."

I tried to hide a smile. "I hope you have a speedy recovery."

"Yeah." He chuckled. "It's okay at the moment."

After he said that, Earl came back with a brick in his hand.

"Here you go, Shelby." Earl handed me the brick.

I smiled. "Thank you."

I said bye to them and then went to sit on a bench. Then I began to slowly sharpen my knife on the brick.

Even when this was happening, I couldn't help but look at Alden.

We did a bit more talking but it still wasn't enough to completely see how he was. I'm lucky that we were talking but what would've happened if Earl took another five minutes to get the brick.

It surprised me when Alden asked me a question.

Am I thinking too much about this?

Alden was really handy when he was working. I see the sparks coming off the piece of metal and then seeing him and Earl put two pieces together.

And I remember what Negan told me.

The question is, how do I even start? I have no idea.

While I was still scraping my knife against the brick, I felt someone sit next to me and saw that it was Magna.
