Chapter 14

*Shelby's P.O.V*

The sun rays going through my window woke me up this morning. I think it was still early in the day but there was chatter from people of the community outside of this mansion.

I only moved a little because I had someone's arm wrapped around my waist.

Since Alden and I had gotten together, he's been sleeping in my room with me. There are times where I would be in his room as well but he mostly just comes into my room with me.

I looked down at his arm and saw that scar that was visible. The same scar that he had gotten when he got injured while he was working.

It was no longer wrapped in a bandage. The scar was there that shows his wounds.

I moved my hand and just slowly touched his scar. It was a decent brown line on his arm that almost anyone could see if they were standing close to him. I don't think you can see it from afar.

But his scar shows that he is tough. I already know that he's a hard worker in the community.

While I was still touching his scar, I felt his arm move and it looked like he's about to wake up.

"What are you doing?" He asked in his raspy voice as he buried his head into my neck.

"Just admiring you." I said as I turned so that I could look at him.

He pulled back and was staring right back at me.

"Admiring, huh?" He asked while raising an eyebrow.

"It's not my fault that you're pretty cute."

He smiled and then gave me a kiss. I kissed him back as I put one of my hands on his chest. The arm that was around my waist was still there. He only pulled me in closer so that we could continue kissing.

I love his good morning kisses. This is kind of what we do after we wake up. It's only been a few days since training at Oceanside and we're enjoying this stage in our relationship.

We then pulled away and we laid next to each other while holding hands.

"Mornings like these need to happen more often." Alden then said as we stared at the ceiling.

"I think they'll continue to happen." I said, "Since there's no way you're getting rid of me."

"I wouldn't want to get rid of you. You're always going to be by my side."

I smiled. "Look at you being cheesy even in a zombie apocalypse."

He smiled back. "I could be the cheesiest person you know. Just let me know and then I'll give you some pick up lines."

"Give me your best pick up line." I challenged him.

He thought about it and then spoke. "I love a girl with brains but not in the zombie way."

"Oh so the zombie apocalypse pick up lines?" I laughed.

"You're pretty smart." He winked and oh my gosh, I think I heard some flutters from butterflies happen inside of me.

Gosh, he was so hot.

"How about another one?" I asked.

"When you are gone, I miss you more than the ozone layer."

I smiled, shaking my head. "Fantastic. Now how about a normal pick up line?"

"Let me think." He said and then he started to speak, "So, aside from taking my breath away, what do you do for a living?"
