Chapter 12

*Shelby's P.O.V*

We were officially at Oceanside, training for the whisperers. We're gathered in a group and my brother, Aaron, was taking charge by leading the whole pack.

My brother and other people in the front had shields as if to stay away from the walkers.

I was standing next to Yumiko and Diane with my bow and arrows and everyone was walking at a steady pace.

Alden was in front of me with other people because he had his spear.

"And halt! Drop!" My brother shouted at the front.

I dropped alongside Yumiko, Diane, Kelly, and Connie and we pulled back our weapons and let our arrows and whatever Kelly and Connie used for their slingshots, fly in the air towards the walkers.

"Right! And march!" My brother then shouted.

We stood back up and started walking again.

I saw Alden throw his spear at a walker and then he went to retrieve it. I'm not gonna lie, he looks really good in his maroon shirt.

"Halt!" My brother shouted again.

Then Magna, Michonne, and Luke went to kill some walkers.

"It's about to get real, y'all. Everyone, steady." Michonne told the whole group.

"Fan out!" My brother shouted as walkers were coming out of the building that they were in.

Think of it like a tunnel, kinda.

Everyone started moving around because my brother said that we have to fan out.

"Hey! Stay in your formations. Remember your training." Michonne shouted.

Then the fighting was on. Everyone started taking out walkers. Ezekiel and Jerry were working together, and I saw Daryl stabbing walkers with his knives.

Daryl, Magna, and Alden threw their weapons at the walkers.

I used my bow and arrows against the walkers with Yumiko, Kelly, and Connie and then after we cleared all the walkers, we were done with training for the day.

I went to where Alden was holding his spear to his side.

"Good work today." I told him as I had approached him.

He smiled. "You looked better than me out there, to be honest."

That made me smile too and then he brought me in for a hug which made me hug him back. I laid my head on his chest and he was smiling into my hair as he held me.

We haven't taken the next step yet but by the looks of it, it may seem like we have even though we haven't.

I saw the kids with Judith and RJ and they were playing in the sand.

"A lovely day at the beach with a lovely girl." Alden said as he pulled back from the hug.

"Are you trying to charm me?" I asked.

"Maybe."

While Alden and I were enjoying our alone time together, Michonne had asked us if we wanted to go with her and a couple of other people to search for any signs of whisperers. Reason being is because Judith found a whisperer mask while the kids were playing in the sand.

So they want to make sure if there are any other clues out there about if the whisperers were back or not.

We decided that we would go.

So I was on a horse and was with Alden, Michonne, Luke, Magna, Yumiko, and my brother, Aaron.

"Okay, let's split up." Michonne said. "You see any sign of them, call it in."
