*Shelby's P.O.V*
It was currently night time and there were people outside hanging out by a fire. Just enjoying some family time.
I was sitting on a bench, away from the fire because I wanted some alone time. Plus, peace and quiet is nice.
I looked up at the stars that were brightening the atmosphere. I always found the night sky fascinating and I always tend to have a smile on my face when I look at the moon and stars.
It made me think of my brother, Lance, since he was into this kind of stuff.
I arrived back at home before dinner was served.
When I got home, Alden wasn't around and it made me sad. I thought he would've been there waiting for me but then I saw him at dinner. We were talking around dinner time but it was a group thing, not a one on one thing.
Is Alden still wanting to hang out?
It was quiet for a few more minutes before I heard footsteps coming towards me. I looked up and saw Alden approaching me.
"What is a girl like you doing here by yourself?" He asked as he sat next to me.
"Just wanted some peace and quiet." I shrugged.
"Am I bothering you?"
I shook my head. "No. You can never bother me."
I saw him smile out of the corner of my eye and we were just sitting there, enjoying the fresh night air.
"Are you ready for training that's happening in a few days?" He then asked me.
"I'm as ready as I can be. I know that we are all going to work hard because we want to be able to defeat the whisperers."
He nodded. "We'll be ready, I'm sure of it."
I looked over at Alden and saw him just looking up ahead at the place of Hilltop. He had a light smile on his face. He seems happier nowadays and I'm not entirely sure why but I like seeing him smile more.
Before I went to Alexandria today, I saw him and how sad he looked. He had a smile on his face when he told me to be safe but he did look sad.
"When I went to Alexandria today, you seemed a bit sad." I said.
He lightly chuckled. "Yeah, I was a bit sad."
"Why?" I questioned.
"Because I like being around you and when you were at Alexandria, I missed you. I missed you a lot."
"Aww, you missed me?" I smiled.
He nodded. "I missed you, Shelby."
"I missed you too, Alden."
We were looking at each other, just smiling at each other. I saw that sparkle in his eye when he was looking at me. It was as if he was lost in my eyes.
He pulled a strand of my hair behind my ear. "You're beautiful."
I blushed. "Thanks, but-"
"Don't try to deny it." He said. "You're beautiful."
He's sending all of these butterflies into the pit of my stomach and I can feel their flutters inside of me.
This can be a perfect scene that you would see in a movie.
And because of how special this moment was, I thought this was the perfect time to tell him how I feel. It was about time that I did so.
I took a deep breath. "Alden, I need to tell you something."
