*Shelby's P.O.V*
"How is he?" I asked Alden as he kept trying to get Adam to stop crying.
"He's fussy." Alden bounced Adam up and down. "I'm going to try and give him a bottle."
I nodded. "He's probably tired too. He didn't get enough sleep last night."
Alden went to retrieve a bottle and I went outside of the mansion and where people were chatting up a storm.
"Daryl's here with Carol." Lydia said, walking up to me.
"When did they get here?" I questioned.
"About thirty minutes ago." She shrugged.
I saw Daryl and Carol talking to Maggie and Elijah about something. I'm not sure what but it didn't seem good.
Then I saw the four people turn to look towards me.
Why are they looking at me?
I then saw Daryl and Carol walking towards Lydia and I.
"Do you know what's going on?" I asked Lydia.
She shook her head. "I have no idea."
"What's wrong?" I asked Daryl and Carol when they approached me.
"We have some unfortunate news." Carol said.
Unfortunate news? What are they talking about?
"I don't get it." I said, confused and encouraged them to continue talking.
Carol sighed. "I was on a run with Magna and then after a few seconds, she died."
What? No. No, no. How can Magna die?
There's no way that had happened.
Magna can't be dead.
No, I won't believe it.
"Did she really die?" I asked and they both nodded.
"If it didn't happen then we wouldn't be here." Daryl said.
"How did she die?" I asked.
Carol continued, "one of the commonwealth soldiers shot her in the head. It happened so fast that we didn't know until I saw her on the ground with blood coming out of her head."
"We made sure to bury her body outside of commonwealth." Daryl nodded. "Give her a peaceful memorial."
"I know this is hard for you, Shelby. Since Magna is your close friend and you guys have been there for each other. It's okay to not feel okay during this time. You have Alden so he can be there to cheer you up." Carol said.
I still can't even wrap my head around it.
It doesn't feel real at all.
Even when I'm in the middle of thinking about all of this, I can't help but think that there's someone to blame for this.
And his name is Lance Hornsby.
I nodded, slowly. "When you go back to commonwealth, give Lance a message from me."
"What kind of message?" Daryl asked.
"Tell him these three words." I said, "this isn't over."
After I said that, I excused myself from the group of Daryl, Carol, and Lydia and then walked back to where Alden was inside the mansion.
I found him in the hallway cradling Adam.
Alden saw me and he had to do a double take because I guess he knows that something is wrong.
"What happened?" Alden asked.
"I just found out that Magna died." I said. "By a gunshot to the head. She was on a run with Carol when it happened."
"Really?" Alden walked up to me.
"Yeah."
When Alden was closer to me, he wrapped one of his arms around me because he had his other arm around Adam.
"I'm sorry." He whispered when he buried his face in my hair.
It was silent for just a minute before the first tear started to flow.
Magna. One of my best friends had died and I won't be able to see her again because of the commonwealth.
I sniffled and Alden just held me tighter.
"I won't be able to see her again." I said as tears were coming down my face.
"This is my fault." Alden sighed. "We barely were visiting people in the commonwealth and we should've. If you want to blame someone then blame me."
I shook my head. "It's not your fault. It's not your fault."
"I'm so sorry this happened, Shelby."
"I'm sorry too."
It now just sucks knowing that Magna won't be visiting hilltop anymore. Whether it's by herself or with a group of people.
We slightly pulled away from the hug and Alden planted a kiss on my forehead.
"How about tomorrow, we go and visit her grave? So that you can get a proper chance at saying goodbye to her." Alden suggested.
"Really?" I asked him, making sure.
"Yeah." Alden nodded. "You deserve to say some last words to her."
Tears were still falling from my eyes but I was really touched by what Alden was saying.
"Thank you, I appreciate that." I thanked him.
"Anything for you."
Even when there's unfortunate news, like someone close to me dying, I know Alden is there to cheer me up.
Alden always knows how to make me feel better.
It's going to be really hard without Magna and I wonder how Yumiko, Luke, Connie, and Kelly are handling the news.
I bet it's hard for them too because Magna was apart of their group.
I already miss Magna so much.

Hey guys, here's another short story.
And this is one where it's sad.
It's been briefly mentioned in the last chapter that Magna has died and now, we get to know what Shelby was feeling once she heard the news.
It's hard for her because it's another family member she's lost but Alden is there for her.
These short stories bring life to moments that were briefly mentioned in the last chapter and also we can always add more stories so that it's still all connected.
