*Alden's P.O.V*
I was currently with Earl and we were attaching the catapults that we made on top of the gate of Hilltop. I was holding it into place as he was screwing in the weapon. While it was happening, I noticed something.
I grabbed binoculars and looked right into them. I see people from Alexandria but I also noticed someone that I haven't seen before.
Someone who was wearing a blue and white plaid shirt.
"Who's that?" I asked Earl as I handed him the binoculars and then he took his turn in seeing who it was.
"Never seen her before." Earl said.
"Alexandria taking in another stray?" I questioned.
"No, they gotta be locked down." He explained.
"Well, they've brought 'em to us before."
And I was telling the truth. This isn't the first time that Alexandria brought people over to our community.
I'm really missing Shelby right now. I wish that she was here and it's only been a couple of days. It doesn't feel right.
I feel so lost without her.
I want her company and us to be side by side with each other. I miss her smile and laugh. I miss everything about her.
I'm also having a hard time sleeping because half the bed feels empty and I would keep tossing and turning. I'm sometimes scared thinking that I'll have a nightmare.
There's a possibility that I'm only getting about four hours of sleep. I'll try to sleep and then I won't be getting any sleep. It made me extremely frustrated. Apparently I was asking for too much.
All I want is for Shelby to be here. Is that too much to ask for?
I followed Earl off the platform that we were on and we walked to where Aaron was at.
Earl went to talk to Aaron.
"Who is that?" Earl asked, gesturing to the person that we didn't know.
"Hi, Earl. It's Mary." Aaron said, "She, uh, ran away from Alpha's camp. She's been helping us out."
Am I supposed to believe that?
"What's she doing here?" Earl then asked.
"Her nephew is, uh, Adam. She wants to see him."
Wait, really? You've got to be kidding me.
Earl then scoffed. "No."
"Okay, Earl, can we talk about this?" Aaron asked him.
"You said you were gonna bring people who wanted to see Alex, not one of our enemies that wants to see my son."
"She's not an enemy." Aaron said.
"You don't know that." Earl told him. "You keep her away from my kid."
I was just here standing and listening to their conversation while having my arms crossed over my chest.
Then I walked past Aaron and went to Earl.
"What the hell did he think I was gonna say? Those people left that kid out there to die." Earl said.
"They see Alex and then they go." I nodded. "That's it. Just cause they came here wanting something doesn't mean they're gonna get it. I'll handle it, okay?"
Earl said nothing but then patted my shoulder before walking off. I stared behind him before looking back at Aaron.
He was giving me a look and I can kind of read what he was trying to tell me. He wants to talk.
