Chapter 29

*Alden's P.O.V*

At the moment, I was with Shelby and Aaron in a tower that is in Alexandria. The three of us were in the tower because Alexandria is surrounded by walkers and whisperers. We realized it when it was too late and we were trying to figure out a plan.

"There has to be a way where we can get out of here." Shelby said as she was next to her brother.

"We'll figure out a way." Aaron said.

Everyone else that lived here went to a different area. We're the only ones here and we're surrounded by whisperers and another walker horde.

I looked out the window of the tower and then when I turned back, I did some sign language to Aaron and Shelby and with what I was saying with my fingers, Aaron wrote down something.

Aaron signed back with some words and then I looked back. I turned around quickly because I saw Beta about to turn around and I wasn't about to let him see me.

That would've caused some trouble.

Then Aaron gestured for me to turn again and so I did, and I heard Beta say something.

"Prepare the guardians. We walk." Beta said.

I looked back towards Aaron and Shelby. "Beta said to prepare the walkers. I don't know what it's for though."

"I think I know what this means." Shelby whispered.

Aaron and I looked towards her.

"What does it mean, babe?" I asked her.

"Beta is taking them in another direction." She whispered. "He knows that the group isn't here so he's taking them somewhere else."

"But where?" Aaron questioned.

That's what we don't know.

"We have to follow them." Shelby said. "Let's go track them."

"We have to wait though." Aaron said.

"We can let Gabriel know where they're going." I nodded. "So that they have a sense of what's going on."

I figured that we'll be done with a walker horde and the whisperers after finding out that Alpha's dead. Shelby had told me what happened and even though I know that Negan's the one that killed her, I'm not gonna give him a reward.

"He's going that way." Shelby pointed as we were near another window.

"Let's wait." Aaron said.

So the three of us watched Beta lead a walker horde and the rest of the whisperers out of Alexandria. Once it was all clear, we went down the tower and then began walking in the same direction that they went in.

We're about twenty feet behind them. But it was working because they couldn't see us.

"Don't worry, Gabriel." I heard Aaron say into the walkie talkie that he had. "We're tracking them. We'll let you know what's next."

"There's a reason why Beta created this horde." Shelby said. "He knows what happened to Alpha. He's coming for us all."

"He has to get to us first." I said, looking ahead.

We kept at a pace where we were being very careful not to get caught. It was hard but it was also working.

"Let's get behind here." I said and we walked behind some bushes.

"Where is he taking the horde?" Shelby said as she saw all the walkers.

"He knows what he is doing." Aaron said.
