Chapter 28

*Shelby's P.O.V*

"You killed Alpha?" I questioned Negan after I was able to completely comprehend the information that he had just given me.

He nodded. "I killed her. That's why I haven't been around lately."

"But why?" I then asked. "I'm confused."

"It was back on the same day that Lydia was attacked. Some people of the council had wanted me dead because someone else had died as well but then again, it's not entirely my fault. I wasn't trying to kill anyone. I was just trying to save Lydia. Then Carol came to me with a plan."

"A plan? What kind of plan?" I asked while raising an eyebrow.

I knew before that Negan had run away but I wasn't sure what the reason was. But now he was telling me why.

"Carol wanted Alpha dead. She didn't explain why but that's what she was telling me and she knew that I could get the job done." He explained.

I know why Carol wanted Alpha dead.

Carol wanted Alpha dead because she was the one that killed her son, Henry. Carol wanted revenge.

And now Carol got what she wanted. Alpha is dead.

"But how did any of this happen? Like what did you have to do in order to have this happen?"

He paused for a moment before starting to speak. "I had to make her trust me. I invaded her camp and pretty much did as I was told. I even had to do something else that was disturbing. But there was a reason why. But still, I had to be by her side so that she could trust me and luckily, she did."

"And I'm guessing this also involved you being at war with the people you live with..." I started to say and he nodded.

"I was there at Hilltop when the whisperer war was happening. I had to shoot a fire arrow at Hilltop and I'm sorry for what had happened to your home. I truly mean it."

That's something I didn't know. But maybe other people did.

But then again, it's not my fault. I got stuck in a cave and I was covered in blood and dirt trying to make my way back to Alden.

I still get thoughts of being in that cave. It was truly a nightmare.

"How did you kill her?" I then asked after I realized that I haven't said anything yet.

"I had to distract her at first. Beforehand, she was telling me that she had to kill Lydia and I couldn't let that happen. She wanted to kill her own daughter just because she loves her even though I knew that wasn't true. I also had to make sure that Lydia was safe so I got Lydia into a cabin and I then took Alpha to a different cabin. When Alpha realized that Lydia wasn't there, she turned around and then I just slashed her throat. I decapitated her head and then gave it to Carol. Alpha is gone and she's not coming back."

After he said that though, I realized something else. "You do realize that Beta is still alive, right? He's Alpha's right hand man."

He nodded. "I know he's still alive and I'm sure he'll be coming for me one way or another."

"You're gonna fight Beta?" I asked.

"If I have to." He shrugged. "I don't just back out of a fight."

Beta is around six feet tall. I'm honestly nervous for Negan right at this moment.

"He's gonna be mad knowing that you killed Alpha." I said.

"You killed my mother?" We then heard a voice behind Negan.

I looked behind Negan and my face dropped. Right there standing was Lydia and she had a look of shock on her face. She was silent. She didn't know what to say.
