*Shelby's P.O.V*

I've probably only been walking for ten minutes.

But really, it seems like I've been walking forever. It's absolutely crazy to me.

The closer that I get to the church, the more nervous that I get. I'm scared of what I'll see. What if he's dead? What if something happened to him when I got there? There's a lot of thoughts running through my head.

I'm still hoping that by the time that I get to the church that he's alive. I need him to be alive.

It's been days since I last saw Alden so either way, I'm nervous.

From a distance, I can see the church.

It looks the same as it did from the last time that I was here. When I had to go and come back to Alexandria because Alden wanted me to.

My heart was literally beating with each step that I took.

This was kind of a scary moment because I don't know how Alden is doing.

The whole time that I was back at Alexandria, I've been thinking about Alden and how everything was going for him.

Did something happen to him?

Well, I'll be finding out in a few minutes.

With a couple of more steps, I was standing in front of the church.

It was taking me a moment to even do anything because of how much my heart was pounding.

I really needed to calm myself down.

This was the moment of truth. This is when I finally get to see Alden and see if anything had happened to him.

Now I completely understand what my brother was going through when he had to come back to get Eric during the All Out War but to then find out that he was a walker.

I remember that day when my brother came back to Hilltop and then that was when I saw Gracie for the first time when she was just a baby.

Taking a deep breath, I slowly walked to the front door of the church.

When I reached the door, I lightly knocked on it and called his name. "Alden?"

But after I said his name, there was no response. Hmm.. that's weird.

"Alden?" I called his name again.

Again, no response.

Why is he not answering? This is so unlike him.

Since that wasn't completely working, it now just means that I would have to go inside the church.

I mean, I would have to go inside anyway.

Here goes nothing.

I put my hand on the doorknob and then slowly opened the door. Each time that the door had gotten wider, my heart was still beating.

It was all so much.

Once the door was completely opened and I was inside, I sighed in relief just seeing Alden there, sitting on the floor.

"Alden." I said his name once more.

He looked up at me and he had a surprised look on his face when he saw me. But then he let out a sign of relief as well.

"Shelby." He said as I started to walk towards him.

"Why didn't you answer me?" I asked him as I sat down in front of him and then put the ax to the side.
