Chapter 22

*Shelby's P.O.V*

The group was trapped in a cave that's full of walkers, that is Alpha's horde. I'm kind of scared at the moment.

And Alden has no idea what's happening either.

Alden. Just thinking about Alden makes me miss him so much more and I just wish he was here. I need him.

I need him right now.

The walkers kept growling and making noises while the whole group had a look of shock on their faces.

The only weapons that I brought with me were my knives and some arrows for my bow.

"Uh... hey guys?" Jerry said.

Jerry pointed in a direction and we all looked up. Just from a distance, I knew that Alpha was right there.

We were all staring at Alpha before Carol let out a scream.

I stabbed some walkers in the head before turning around to see Magna getting help from Daryl and Jerry while she's trying to climb but she then fell on the ground next to their feet.

Daryl shined a flashlight while all of us still had our weapons in our hands and tried to figure out what we should do.

"You got something?" My brother asked Daryl.

"Groundwater's deeper in here." Daryl said."The water's coming from outside."

"I don't see a way across." Carol said.

"Whoa, whoa. Go back." My brother said.

Daryl shined his flashlight in the direction of what my brother was pointing at. It was like cobblestones or at least flat areas where we could jump.

"We could use those to jump across." Aaron said.

"Nice." Daryl nodded.

"Wait. For real?" Kelly asked.

My brother only nodded at Kelly. She seemed a bit scared and if I'm honest, I was a bit scared too.

"You ready?" Daryl asked as he took out his knives. "Let's go."

Daryl started to jump on the flat areas and Carol started to follow him. Magna went next and then Jerry.

Connie went after Jerry and then it was Kelly's turn. She slipped but she was able to adjust herself.

"Shelby, you go. I'll be right behind you." Aaron told me.

I nodded. I jumped onto the first flat area and then continued to do so. Sometimes, a walker or two would grab my leg but I would kick it in the head before I continued to make my way across. I went through the rocks that were there.

Daryl helped me once I reached the other side and then we were just waiting for my brother.

He soon made his way across as well.

We soon followed Daryl as he walked through a tunnel and he used one of the walker's hands so that it could act like a piece of wood was on fire. I forgot what that kind of thing is called.

"How long do you think we're gonna be here?" Kelly asked.

"Hey, no worries. Walkers got in here somehow." Jerry said. "We'll get out."

He had a point. If there's a way in then there's a way out.

"I think we know exactly how they got here." My brother said, "Alpha put them here. These are theirs."

"I just wanna get out of here so I can go back home and see Alden." I said.

"And you will." Aaron looked at me. "I'm sure he's waiting for you to come back right now."
